17 octane 222 weight distribution hitch issue

I have an issue I can't seem to resolve. The 2017 222 model moved the tongue carriage from top of the tongue to the bottom. This increased the bottom tongue rails another 2.5" because of the tubing welded to the bottom of the tongue for the carriage floor. This is causing my distirbution bars to hit that tubing when I turn. I have tried to adjust the angle of the bars but doesn't seem to be low enough. I also think that the chains are also getting caught of the end of the same tube from time to time. Does anyone else have this same issue? What is the fix other than buying an centerline bar style hitch? I am using a husky 30849 hitch. TIA

Sounds like you may need to go to a different style hitch. I'm using a slide bar style. Is your trailer tongue like mine? See pic below...

The L shaped hitch brackets mounted on my trailer keep the slider bars from contacting those lower carrier mounts. Sounds like your chains are allowing the bars to get closer to center and make contact.
