2014 Sesimic Rims, G Rated for 110psi or just E?

Looking at replacing the Blowmax set for a GY G614 G rated tire. I won't be able to crawl under the rig and check the rating on back side of rim. Anyone know off hand if it's just an E rim or if it's rated for 110-120 psi for a G?

If I was a betting man, I'd bet they just put Es on this thing, which means to go G means wheel replacement. Urgh. FYI Heartland for '16 started putting G rated shoes stock on its Cyclones. Seems they recognized that like the 3914 where all the weight is on the back right corner with kitchen slide (reefer stove pantry etc) some tires are at or near rated weight. Plus E rating plus Blowmax equals Boom. Simple math! Thanks! If you have a 2013 I believe it's the same rim and tire. Not sure on '15.

It should be. I just switched to the G614 last month and my rims were stamped 110psi on the inside of the rim. You may need to pull a tire off to see. If you make the switch search search the internet for the Goodyear rebate on the G614 $20 per tire.

Awesome. Thanks Terry. I will do that. How has your experience with the 614s been? I've read mostly great reports with an occasional report of some bad performance. Either way it's got to be better than the Blowmax.

The 614s are great. The main thing I notice is when the tires scrub in a tight turn the 614s slide very nice, the Towmax would flex the side walls to where I thought the tire could come off the rim. When you compare the two tires side by side there is a huge difference in the side wall thickness. I was always nervous traveling with the Towmax, i upgraded after one year.

At one time, they were hard to find. Glad to hear that GY has cranked up the supply.

If you have any doubt about these tires, pick one up and compare the weight and thickness to the Towmax.

2014 Sesimic Rims, G Rated for 110psi or just E?

Oh no doubt. I was considering going GY 114s which I believe are 75mph tires on a 17.5" rim, that was when I was assuming they were not 110psi rims OEM from Jay. They say the 114s (17" brother to the G614) are bulletproof but that adds 1300-1400 to the price tag, and makes no sense if I already have a 110psi on there now, unless I sold my current rims as spares to our members here for a great price. I had a good thought for my Blowmax tires when they come off, put them on spare crappy steel rims (unless I get new rims) and bolt them on prior to winter storage, so the GYs don't sit.

How bad are the towmax tires supposed to be? I have towed Ohio to California and now to Oregon. Am I just getting lucky so far? No blowouts, flats or other issues (knocks on wood)

A recent poster had a failure with about 8000 miles on a set. I had 2 blow in a 75 mile stretch with a third ready to go with about 7500 miles and about 3 yrs. I cruise at 60mph and am a nut about pressure. Monitored the tires from day 1 with a TPMS. No more TM's for me.
Have G'year 614's now and they have a mystery stamp on the sidewall "Made in the U.S.A.". Hmm, I wonder what it means...

Djtho1, Jayco no long puts the Blowmax tires on their RVs. That should tell you something. All 4 of mine need to be replaced at 18 months and about 8000 miles due to one blowout and the other three with tread seperation. I am upgrading to 17.5" wheels and a 4800 pound rated tire including the spare. When I called blowmax claims they said that if you get a flat with these norrow margins on the capacity of these tires the other tires could be overloaded and need replacing. I will be retiring in a couple of years and plan to travel the country. I do not want to replace 4 tires every time I get one flat. I decided to bite the bullet now. I was very fortunate that I noticed the slight drag increase on the truck, saw smoke and tire chunks in the mirror, and pulled over before the tread flew apart and beat the trailer. I posted where I got my tire and wheel assembly in another post. Do some shopping on line for the best option that meets your needs.

Hmmmmm. Something to think about for sure. I will have to start looking. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately, in this age of axle over loading) I have three axles and six tires, so that will be a major investment.

I'm at the moment trying to decide between G614s with the current rim or invest a little more and go with the bulletproof H114 with the 17.5" rim for added reliability and weight carrying ability. For those who have the G614s how have they been?

FYI Goodyear rebate offer ends today. 20$ off each tire purchased.

Ok never mind. I just made the plunge. 17.5" Rims with H Rated G114 Goodyears mounted balanced centercaps high pressure stems shipped 3500$. I will have some Seismic 16" stock rims with or without tire and centercaps for sale on here very soon for a great price if you guys want to have a full rimmed spare or an extra spare. Between these shoes and my TPS sensors for the tires, im gonna feel a lot better next month when family and I are on way to Ocean City MD from here in New England.

And FYI in the very rare case I loose one H rated, the extra rating (E to H) will enable the others to pick up the load and not be over stressed.

P25ct, your reasoning is much the same as mine. I explained the additional cost to my wife as the "cost of clean underwear."

Russell, she and I talked and I know sitting by the side of the road on the way to a Summer Vacation for hours with the side trim and potentially more of the back end of the coach ripped off, and a tow back home, cancelled vacation, and body shops insurance companies etc- well justifies the investment. I like the underwear analogy! Haha

Another G rated tire that one might want to look at is the G rated Sailun S637 tire. It's as good as if not better than the G614 at about 1/2 the price. It's a China manufactured tire, but this company has earned TS16969 certification. To get this certification, one has to prove out manufacturing and quality processes...I've heard no bad reports on the Sailuns that have been around for a little over 2 yrs....
