Solid copy. That makes sense to me, I'm just not certain what relays/fuses will disagree with eachother yet, if I leave everything hooked up..will find out today! Maiden voyage to the campground by the house. I'll share the good the bad and the ugly tomorrow at some point.

Nothing should disagree with each other. When plugged into shore power, the battery is getting charged by the converter. I believe it’s only a trickle. Having the truck running and plugged in gives extra power from trucks battery and alternator. I’ve done it like this for a while now without issue.

Just for reference, from what I researched before I bought our Seismic, Onan does not make a gas powered generator for RV use that provides 50 amp service. As such, it is, in essence, impossible to upgrade to a larger unit. Unless you want to go to diesel. That is why all the other manufacturers have gone to a load control system. Changing breakers on the current unit does you no good as you'll fry the generator components. Also note, if you have the same 5.5KW generator my 4114 has, your total amps available on both sides at the same time is only 45.8. As such, you won't get a full 30 amps on both sides at the same time.

BeachRetreat

Thanks for giving some clarity on the generator! I don’t have an on board generator so this is great info for those of us looking to learn.

Thank you.
