Here's a videos of my passenger side spring hangers when crossing a dip at a 45* angle. I have the same trailer as Turtle Tim but the 2017 model. I have boxed in the spring hangers with 10ga plate (after filming the clip).
It appears the hangers themselves didn't flex too much, rather the hangers and I beam frame twist as a unit. I could see how repeated side load could shear the hangers at the weld.

SocalSeismic, I can see the flex above the spring hangers. I also noticed that some of the folks having hangers break welds also have the MORryde Correct Track system installed. While installing my Correct Track system I became concerned about side stress on the shackles and frame so welded in 2x3 steel tubing to tie both sides of each axle and center hanger together. I really believe what I have is strong enough to prevent problems. At least it has been for about 20,000 miles.

I just had a spring hanger break. Driver's side rear hangar, which is surprising, because it's last in line for road shock. Anyway, I'm shocked that all your spring hangers/mounting points seem MORE robust than mine!
Mobile welder coming tomorrow (I hope). Lodged a claim with Jayco directly...hoping for some $$ relief. About to call the dealer.

No surprise here! LCI is who will pay the claim, Jayco will just forward to them. This is just one of many issues that Jayco has with their toy hauler Line. Ours broke exact same place, cracks were at all welds of hangers/frame. You need to install gussets at all welds.
Go look at my pictures on this site

https://www.morryde.com/wp-content/u..._2019_v32a.pdfAll,
I have a 2018 Octane T30F & have been following this for a while. Some time ago I gave Morryde a call about it to hear what they had to say / advise. There engineers did not advise boxing in the spring hanger with welded gussets as they said it needs to have some flex to it. What they did advise was installing the X-factor braces. They stated that one brace (I have a dual axle CR-300 system on mine) would increase the rigidity on my setup by 90%, while still allowing the flex needed. I could install up to three of them on my set-up to bring that up from the 90% increase of the one. The x-factor braces are about $110.00 on Amazon last I looked, & do not require any welding, etc.
I am not debating any previous inputs , or fixes. I am only relaying what Morryde advised me with my setup. Hopefully here is the link from Morryde that will show the braces:
Due to the COVID, work, & other issues, we are not traveling until next spring & it will be a 4 week / 5kmi trip. So I am reading all the threads & advice posted. Slowly fixing / upgrading my rig with the advice & learnings from the many who post with the goal to limit, as much as possible, issues we will encounter on the road. Thank you again for all those who post! As I have been able to update, fix, or plan fixes for things I would have never thought of.

This thread is pretty remarkable. Are the new Seismics, such as a 3815, subject to this same tin-foil frame scenario?

I would say it is all RV's with Lippert frames, not just Seismics, that have the issue. Many reports of this issue across models and brands.

I was under the impression, maybe mistakenly, that Jayco used Norco/BAL frames? Could be bad info. Otherwise, yes, I read you loud and clear on just about anything from Lippert, especially frames. What a shame.

This ^^^^
A friend with a Fuzion had all his hangers fail at the same time, just folded over. I am also aware of others too.

This is on every shackle. Looks like 1/4 incumbent to a V

"The reinforcement he performed was approved by Lippert Engineers."
i'm not sure that it matters if they approve, matter of fact i would be concerned if they did approve it... after all they designed it, validating their engineering degree isn't worth the paper it is on...

Lol. Thanks for the pics. I'm getting my axles aligned right now. When I get it back I plan on reinforcing the hangers.

My 2015 Whitehawk broke an axle hanger on our way out West. We were about 1800km into our 9500km trip.
Thankfully, I noticed at our Harvest Host location and it happened to be a farm. The farmer welded it up for me the next morning and we were on the road before lunch.
I HIS words, it's not pretty, but it will hold.
We're home now and the weld held.
Trying to source a 5" axle hanger is not easy. None of my local trailer builders carry a 5" axle hanger, it seems 4" is standard.
I'm thinking I will just add some more reinforcing to it, paint it and call it repaired. I will also reinforce the other hangers.
Thoughts on where to get a replacement axle hanger? I'm in Canada, and thanks to Biden, I can't get to my USA mailbox.

One of ours broke. Jayco agreed to the field repair by a local welder. Since the trailer was not towable, the welder came to our house.
They (actually the frame manufacturer) also agreed to pay the welder to reinforce the rear hangars on both ends of the rear axle.
After checkign with the frame manufacturer to ensure that additional welds on the frame would not cause problems with the frame, I had the welder add angled bracing to one side of every hanger...8 in total. They are VERY sturdy now.
The welding job on yours is worse than "not pretty." It did hold, but that's not good work.
Check with Jayco, but I believe the hangars are "mild steel," (nothing special), and a new one could be fabricated by a competent welder. Jayco, or the frame manufacturer, can tell you precisely the grade of steel needed to make an all-new hanger.
It would be wise for the welder to reinforce the mount, and perhaps add a slightly wider hangar to ensure the hanger is welded to steel that hasn't been damaged by the amateur welding job.
No gripes with the farmer...he saved your bacon. But a proper repair is in order.

Yeah the weld doesn't look great.
I'll see if I can get someone to fabricate a new bracket for me.

There is nothing special about the spring hanger. I would locate a local welding shop. They can fabricate a new bracket and reinforce all of them if you wish.
