Do EXIT Windows Crack Open?

Question: I have a Jayco Jayflight 154bh and I was curious if the two windows that say "Exit for Emergency Use Only" can crack open to create a cross breeze?

I assume so because there is a screen on it, but I can't figure it out. I'm a newbie if you can't tell - thanks for the help.

Not sure about the 154BH but on my trailer both emergency exit windows are "awning style" windows and they do prop open. Both have a long push rod with a detent that allows the window to be propped open.

What year is yours?

Our 23B has a screen on it, and we have it open every weekend.

Our exit windows have a flat bar with a red plastic end on it. Push the red end down and swivel the bar out toward you 90*. Here's the hard part, that window is going to be very difficult to open because the glass is going to stick to the window seal very well. It's going to feel like you're going to break the bar, or the glass. You may have to have someone go on the outside and help pry it open. Our Northpoint is like this, our previous 2015 5th wheel was like that and the trailer we had before that was the same. Only way I've found to keep these from sticking real bad like that is to open the every week or two. Once you get it open there is a cut out on the bottom side of the red plastic piece that slips on to the frame to keep the window open.

Our Seneca has the same type of Emergency Window. It is very useful for a cross breeze.

Super helpful everyone, thank you!

Mine is a 2020 and has a "red bar" and yes I felt like I was going to break it - i'll give it a try once the weather warms up here in Indiana!

It's a trailer. Of course it feels like it's going to break.

Just a side note. If it’s really windy that window can blow outward allowing the red push bar to slide all the way through that slot it rides in. Not a big deal but freaked me out a bit the first time it happened.

Talking

AND, if not closed and locked properly, may "flap in the breeze", especially at 65 mph, much to the consternation of the DW!

I am not sure if I opened the only on my trailer but the trailer I rented to try before we brought I did open it. Reminded me of the windows in the UK when I was growing up.

Oh these frameless windows don’t need to be left open, they can just have the glass blow off at 65mph going down the freeway!

I wipe the window seals with silicone lube at least once per year and it prevents the hard sticking when trying to open it.

I push the rod completely out and then hook a bungee cord to the rain gutter and the window. This puts it at 90 degrees which allows much better air flow.

I've heard those frameless windows can do that. We bought new a 2014 model Greyhawk 31FS. The one we looked at had frameless windows and I liked them because it made the coach look modern. When ours was delivered it had the old slider-style windows. The dealer's excuse was that ours was an early 2014 while the one we looked at was a later model. Having sold jeeps in the late 60's I knew that in the old days jeeps and trucks were often just retitled and sold as the current model. Thus you could buy a three or four-year-old vehicle that had never been titled. Yes, this was perfectly legal in those days. Anyway, it did not surprise me that RV dealers got away with the same thing and other than the windows our 2014 had everything a later 2014 had. However, I was disappointed I did not get those fancy new windows. I've found since then that we get more ventilation with the old style windows and in 70K miles have never had a window blow out.

I have a 264BH with a exit window in the master bedroom and one in the bottom bunk area. I crack both of them open for venting. Don’t forget to close them before you drive away.
