Fresh water leaking from vents?
2015 T31b. Seems like we lose A LOT of fresh water driving down the road. Water is coming from the 2 hoses hanging down on the drivers side. Is this an overflow or venting? Since we boondocks, every drop is precious. Never lose water when sitting on RV pad, only when driving.

Full tanks can siphon out the vents when you fill the tanks to the level that the water starts coming out the vents.
To prevent this, I put valves on my 2 water tank vents. When full and water starts coming out of the vents, I turn the water off and shut the valves I installed on the vents.
We boondock 95% of the time and agree, every drop counts.

As Turtle Time said, it is a common occurrence for water to siphon when traveling. I opted for a simple, low-budget approach... I use 2 neoprene 'corks' from Ace Hardware - the corks go into the ends of the vent hoses before we leave and I remove them when we are setting up to camp.
Whatever approach you take, remember the vent(s) need to be OPEN when filling the freshwater tank(s).

I also have a 2015 T31b and had the same problem. It would drain 100 gallons going down the road. This is how I fixed it.

I did something else and it works, so not have to remember to open the vents when filling the tanks.
I located the vent line intje cabinet and repositioned it so the pipe loop is as high as possible, and then it I secured it inside the wall that way. It has never siphoned since.

HI, i had the same problem, so here is my solution. My two fresh water tanks are connected, the breather tube(s) from the rear tank both extended 8 inches (two lines from the rear tank) Every time i would turn right, the water would slosh left and come out the breathers. I purchased some 1/2 inch tubing and ran both lines 5 feet longer to the rear of the trailer. I purchased two small RAINX sprinkler ball valves (small on / off plastic ball valve) and placed one on each line. There will be lots of comments about remembering to open or close.... but long story short, my lines are always open because i usually tow 1/2 or 1/3 full to a site with hookups. If i have to tow full for the desert trips, i top the tanks off at home, close the valve, and open when i get there. I've NEVER had a problem with tanks expanding or shrinking while traveling. I open the valves when i set up (YOU MUST OPEN THEM to prevent collapse or pump failure) and i'm at 100% water level every time.... just an idea, use your own guidance and common sense (-: Happy Camping!!

Thanks and thanks for this: (YOU MUST OPEN THEM to prevent collapse or pump failure)
We've ordered 2 valves and will mount on the side of the trailer, through the black skirting. Open for filling and open for use, closed for travel, right?

yes, i used a small cable clamp to hold mine in place. I see another post that used the same low point drain valves, thats another clean way of doing it. i'll try to post some pic's tonight for the post. i do not have to crawl under the camper, mine are fully accessible from the side which was important. The manufacture hoses are held with hose clamps, use common sense, do not pull on them, just twist to loosen back and forth and they will come off eventually after the clamp is off. Run the new lines out of the way of any suspension or moving parts. I ran mine through the frame holes already existing to the rear (5ft away, i bought 10ft hose and cut in half)... i always keep them open when stored, open when . camping and open if i'm not towing water. I ONLY close them when i need to travel down the highway because i'm towing full of water... I used to loose 1/3 to a 1/2 by the time i reached Pismo Beach, only two hours away, and it was frustrating. ONLY close them if your traveling full and need to "keep" your water (-: My valves are from HDPT in the sprinkler section, 1/2 RAINBIRD ball valve, work perfectly.

Not saying it’s not a good idea to open the valves once you set up but it is not going to collapse your tank if you don’t. The cap on the fresh water fill isn’t air tight. It will breath enough to prevent collapse.

these tanks aren’t sealed they are always at atmospheric pressure. Why would they collapse? There is a vent tube that also extends up to the fill cap. I plan to plug mine off but though those tubes underneath were just for overflow when filling. The older models didn’t have those. You just stopped filling when it shot back out of the fill.

If you have a gravity fill port you are correct. But if you have one of those fancy command centers, with three way valves, then you can isolate and seal off the fill port.

If you guys are talking about the low point drains, I thought the two valves in the lavatory cabinet opened and closed them? Are there two low point drains and also two tank vent lines? Possibly the tank vents tee into the drain lines also.

No, they are talking about the overflow/vent hoses that exit the fresh water tanks.
They start overflowing when the tank is full but they tend to keep siphoning even after you stop filling the fresh water tank.

Does anyone know why those overflow lines are even there? (Especially two of them?!?!) With a gravity fill, can't you just stop filling when the water comes back out the fill opening? I don't have a problem with siphoning, but I do have this problem: https://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/f...lob-65800.html I want to replace my tank, but none of them I find have any fittings for overflow lines, only one for a vent line. I seems like this would be sufficient, and limit the number of ways that gunk can get into the tank.

Where do you normally get water to fill your tank? You could have picked something up from a bad location. Sadly I think you’ll need to drop your tank to clean it entirely since the algae is so thick. It could also be living in you full line
