Fuel and generator hrs gages not working

The gages for my fuel tanks (generator and aux) are not working.
Also, the Hrs Usage meter on my generator does not work although the generator will start just fine.

I have checked all fuses in the inside fuse box and all are good.

Anyone else have a suggestion?

On our Octane, the problem was a bad ground , which is common to the gauge and start/stop switch/hour meter. Simply added a new ground and it has been working fine every since.

I just bought a 2019 Octane T30H. Same problem, thanks to
Jayco they put in a cheap KIB switch rather than a Onan.

Where did you attach the ground wire. Pull out the gauges or
what. I am not going to take it back to the dealer and wait
for weeks if they need new parts.

Same problem on my 2016 t32c, had no hour meter. Mine the ground wire coming from the generator wasn't going to the hour meter. The hour meter ground was on the wrong terminal on the start stop switch. I used a wiring diagram from onan to trace the wiring.

Problem fixed

I had the same problem and thanks to Jeff my World Wide RV, Jayco Quartzsite/Show Low, AZ dealer has a friend who is an elect eng. he looked at the problem and sent me a fix.

Jayco production screwed up they wired the hour meter wrong.
I shut off all power and disconnected the battery just in case.

Pop open the front of the gen switch. Use a small tool to just pry it at
the top.

You can also just look at the attachment.

Look at the White wire which they have going to the left side of the meter.
It comes from a double connector that goes to the BLUE wire.
On the right side of the meter is a ORANGE wire that comes from the gen.

The problem is both these wires are hot when gen is running.

Take the BLUE & WHITE wire and its connector off the switch.
Pull the BLUE wire off the connector. Push the BLUE wire back on to the
switch. (Do this after putting back on the BROWN wires)
Pull off the (2) BROWN wire which are connected to separate connectors.
The BROWN is the ground.
Connect the WHITE wire with it connector to the rear BROWN wire post.
Then push both BROWN wires back onto the switch. The rear BROWN goes on the small brass connector that is on the WHITE wire.

You do not have to cut any wires. I used a small screwdriver to pry up the
switch wires.

Check your wiring to be sure nothing is shorted. Turn power back on & start
the gen. It take a while for the 1/10 hour number to start working.

When buying an RV now days you have to have a good dealer who looks
after there customers. Deal with the boss not the ex-used car sales person
who the dealers are now hiring on there sales staff.

My dealer also advised me that the fuel pump has to be running for the
fuel meter to work. Meter on inside and switch on outside.
PS: Be sure when not using the gas hose put a cap on the nozzle to keep out
dirt.

I posted the fix for the gen switch that works.
I have a hard time reading the hours because it is
high in the cabinet.
I think the switch is junk and want to install an Onan
factory switch. I have a model 5500 gen.

Has anyone changed from a KIB switch to Factory Onan.

Can't help with the switch swap, but so very glad you posted about the fix. My wires look different in the back, but I know enough about 12v (to be dangerous) and was able to move the jumper from the white to the brown to make everything work. I am super stoked to have a functioning gauge for the first time ever. PS, I keep 2 step stool in my Octane because the gauges and the cabinets are so darned tall!

So I have a 2018 Talon. My Hour meter has never worked. Also the switches are Junk. I have replaced my switch and when doing so noticed my wires were as described above. simply moved the White Jumper from Hot (Blue) to Ground (Brown) on the switch. I wonder if the guy that wires these units knows what is happening.
