Furnace vents.

I want to cover the furnace vents to stop debris from going in.
What do some of you use to cover the furnace vents?
Thanks in advance.

These are the covers/screens that I put on mine. I'm not sure if they make anything solid to keep additional debris out.

We used to use a magnet strip, then the new rig had plastic. We used some sticky saran wrap. Whatever you use, don't forget to remove it before using the furnace.

We now just remove the register a few times a year and vacuum it.

For the inside floor vents I replaced the factory ones with these"

This way I can at least close them in the summer. Plus it gives the option of closing in the winter if one area gets a bit too warm.

We had a similar problem at our mobile home. Used vent filter material bought at Menards. About 5 X14 pieces of stuff that looked liked thin cotton batting. Kept dust out and did not harm air flow.

Hi, take the vents out and get some black screen and wrap the back side of vent with screen and use small pieces of duct tape to hold the screen to the vent. re-install and if anything falls thru, you just take a vacuum to clean it out because it all just fell on the screen that's inside the vent.

While I realize this product wasn't the intent of the original question, I just wanted to ask. I was told by my dealer that putting these on void the warranty. Is this true?

Hmm.. I don't understand why if this is true. Not sure which mod you're referring to, but the closeable registers and/or exterior vent screens could be easily removed prior to putting in a warranty claim.
