I use my victron energy mppt solar controller - It has an app that I get to via bluetooth (via my iphone) and it displays plenty of info

I just got back from 5 days of boon docking. Ive (2) inexpensive 100w panels $85 ea. I ran them parallel into a cheap controller I had laying about from a previous project, then the controller output to the solar power jack on the tongue.

It exceeded my expectations. Kept the battery charged and I used a 300w inverter off the 12v behind the TV and was able to watch movies all day without running the generator. Even had a 5v USB fan running continuously.

Nice. While I didn’t use quite as much power, my new solar install of a 100w panel allowed me to dry camp easily in my hybrid for 4 days with grandkids running lights and charging phones. For a longtime tent and pop up camper, solar has been amazing. Real limit for me was the black tank capacity.

I'm not sure if I'm helping - but I think the information you want will come from the Solar Charge Controller. Some SCCs have displays, some have optional remote displays. Some have Bluetooth and/or Wifi.

Some have a serial interface on them and you can roll your own.

Here's the start of my Gong show:

So Here is the location of the Sticker they place in my trailer. Its on the left wall of the fridge cabinet

I opened up the panel above the fridge to see if I could get a visual of where the solar panel wires were

Well good thing I did. The wires were nowhere near wear the sticker was in fact the wires arent even long enough to reach from where they come in to the cabinet to the opposite side.

Take a look at this. The solar controller sticker is actually below that wood piece.

So now my question to you all. Does anyone know if beside the fridge is a hollow void or is it full of insulation?

My 2017 Hummingbird has a "Solar Ready" plug on the trailer tongue:
1. Is it already connected to the battery via the load center, or do I need to connect it?
2. Is there a charge controller installed by Jayco or do I need to provide one?
3. what is the maximum input power in watts this connection is designed to handle?

1) Further research suggests I'll need 2 more 100 watt panels *at least* to have any real chance to keep batteries charged without a generator. I know the Wanderer is 30 AMP, so it should be able to handle it. Can I just connect the 2 extra panels in series on the roof?

2) The "solar ready" plug-in on the trailer tongue is made for portable panels. What are the chances I can plug in there and have it feed into the system without issue? I would hope the dealership didn't disconnect that feed somewhere...
In parallel, not series. I installed a Go Power Solar Panel, and am about to add another, which will come with a "y" connector to connect the two panels together.

1. My 2018 Jayco was factory connected directly to the battery on this port.
2. You need a controller for the tongue connector port.
3. Mine is labeled 20A max.

To be clear. if you use the tongue connector you need a controller between the panels and connection. Same as from the roof to the interior wiring. I don't have the panels connected in this pic.

Thinking about doing the gopower kit for winter mod project. My 161 has the prewiring, but how are you removing wall panels without damage (in reference to checking the wiring location before cutting wall panel)?

I got the GoPower 120w portable suit case unit with an extension cord to allow a wide swath for positioning. It comes with attached controller and plugs into tongue jack works great , kept up with my needs . I have 2 12v 105 amp hr AGM batts. (Will add 2000w inverter charger in future) I went with the suit case because it only exposes the panels when in use. The unit is easily stored when not in use. Fwiwymmv

When you do go for the inverter take a hard look at the go power IC 2000 great unit

Its a very nice unit 50 amp per leg passthrough. Power sharing for 4000w 100amp charger.

Help! Attempting to connect solar to our solar-ready hummingbird

I recently purchased a Renogy 200W solar panel kit, portable. Supposedly, I just need to plug my solar kit into the side of the trailer and we’re good. The kit I have does not have a plug, and it actually attaches to the battery with cables. I wanted one that I could plug into the side of my trailer. Now I also have a problem as someone advised me that I have to have a lithium battery and not a deep charge battery? Whatever it is, it just keeps getting more and more complicated. I’ll be going camping in a week!

If you have this kit - https://www.renogy.com/200-watt-12-v...olar-suitcase/ - it should work with all batteries, not just lithium as shown in one of the pics on the website. As for connection to the RV, the removable alligator clips are just one way to connect. You will need to look at your connection on the RV and get a cable with one end that connects to the RV and the other end to the panel cable directly.

Meant to mention my RV had an SAE connection, so I got the following to connect my panels - https://www.amazon.com/Goupchn-Conne...s%2C220&sr=8-3

You may need something similar, but you will need to check
