Jayco seismic stress fractures?

We recently ordered a seismic 4212. We went to pick it up and they discovered stress fractures around the rear entry door. They did not know what it was from, but said they would have their body guy fix it. That is great and all, but I am worried this May be a temporary fix? I had a xlr thunderbolt 395 previously and had issues w the slide, they could never get it fixed properly, so I am very sceptical, but I love the floor plan. Has anyone ever had stress fractures on their camper ( any kind), and what was it caused by? This particular unit was shipped from Colorado to another state. I also wonder if it could be caused from the side patio causing stress on the unit. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Why was a new unit "double" shipped, Factory to CO, CO to you? Especially since you ordered it.

Was it rejected by a buyer in Colorado?

I wouldn't take it. I'd walk away from it as fast as I could and never look back.

I probably would walk away on that one. We dealt with fiberglass cracks on our previous Cedar Creek. 1 under a window, 1 in a outside kitchen door and went 3 rounds with the front cap. The fix under the window was successful. After a fix to the outside kitchen door, it reappeared and they had to replace. On the cap. Fixed once, reappeared, replaced whole cap, more cracks reappeared in the same place. Fixed that cap and soon sold the rig. They never could really figure out why it was cracking. With our previous experience with cracks, I'd walk away. Unless you know exactly what is causing it and can fix it, it'll probably come back.

Do you have any pictures of where it's cracking?

Run like your pants are on fire. If the problem continues the worry and fight with Jayco isn’t worth it!

Doesn't sound like JAYCO is involved since the dealer offered to have "their" body guy fix it. That is why I asked about the shift from one dealer to another.

I guess technically it wasn't ordered, I told them what I wanted, they located the model at a camping world in Colorado, and had it shipped to the dealer I was working with.

Unless things drastically changed " Something is rotten in Denmark". JAYCO normally does not ship a unit until it is paid for so CW paid JAYCO for it originally. That fact is emphasized when you tour the FW plant in Middlebury, they don't do consignment sales. They may have located it at CW in CO, but your dealer would have had to work out a deal with that dealer to get the unit. I would definitely get more details about the transfer to your dealer.

My sense is somebody purchased, then refused to take the TT at the Camping World location because of the damage. Then it was transferred to you, hoping you'd keep it and deal with the damage.

I could very well be wrong, but I would walk away myself. Dealing with a stress fracture right from the get-go would NOT be my idea of a good time. And if fixed, will it happen again?

We ordered a Seismic 4212 last week. It is scheduled to roll-off the production line at the end of March. I hope this is an isolated incident. I too would be skeptical and hesitant to accept it. Do you have pictures of the cracks?

I wouldn't sweat it Shin Pond Hunter. Like our last one, ours was the bad apple in a huge bunch. It happens, but not real often. You can bet you'll hear about it on a forum if it's something like that. The 1000's of others that didn't crack, you won't hear as much about.

I'd still like to see pictures of the OP's situation.
