Large slide only ext. & Ret. on shore power

The large slide on my Seismic 4113 will only extend and retract on shore power (currently hooked to 20A house circuit). When trying to extend or retract on just battery power, it moves about 6 inches and stops. The battery (2- 6v AGM) reads 13.7 volts. Even when running the generator it still stops. One would think that running on the generator would give the same result as shore power. Can anyone give me some insight as to what may be the problem?

Subscribing... Very interesting
I want to hear any theory’s.
I’ve heard of this before. Sorry I’m no help.
But, when it moves the six inches and then stops, can you let off the switch then start again and get another 6”?

No, I can get it to return to it's starting point but, it will not go further in the original direction.

What if you run the slide all the way in or out ( on shore power) then once its all the way, let it set for a minute or two and push and hold the button in the same direction ( all the way in or out doesnt matter) for 10 seconds, not sure this will work but it is suppose to align anything that is out of whack.

What does the battery read under load?

Just came in from trying to troubleshoot. Here are my battery voltage readings and results.

With shore power on 13.7

Battery power only 13.5

Battery power only under load 13.1 (slide extended completely no issues, reading at final extension, slowly dropped over entire extension)

Battery power only under load 12.8 (slide stopped twice but continued to retract upon successive depression of switch)

With generator power no load 14.3

With generator power under load 14.3

So, as you can see today it extended and retracted on just battery power though it did struggle.

It extended and retracted on shore and generator power better than it did on just battery power. It extended and retracted completely without stopping.

To me this slide has always seemed like it is struggling to extend and retract, regardless of power supply. I have seen several other posts about these large slides not being smooth operating and such so, believe that is just the nature of the beast. Why I had issues yesterday has me stumped.

they do sell a higher amperage motor for these slides as well, a upgrade I am currently having put on mine, not sure that will make any difference or not.

Yours has the Slim Rack mechanism, or schwintek? Mine has the slim rack, and always been 'jerky' in its movement , especially near the bottom of the stairs. I am planning to use some dry lube on the rollers, and put some aluminum plates of the slide floor to try to smooth it out. I am always thinking that 'this is the time its going to break'. That said, I have noticed mine does better using the Generator or shore power vs. battery to extend.

KMO is correct that you can get motors with a better reduction ratio. Just make sure to get the steel rod for the gears too if you go that route.
