Yes, self-tappers. Make certain they are not too long. In some case you are tapping a 1" square tube.

Thanks Tom. What did you screw into on the seat back? I pulled mine off and it doesn't look like there are any supports going across. I'll post a few pictures

The cross brace that runs the length of the back. It in your picture. Look at my pics. It’s close to the center,
