Onan 5.5KW Time to Produce Power Output

I have a Cummins Onan 5.5KW Generator in my Jayco 355 toyhauler. I religiously start it up once a month and load it during the winter months in storage. I use the electric fireplace that is equipped in the toyhauler and also plug in a 1500 watt portable heater while loading up the generator for a continuous 2 hours. That should give it at least a 3000 watt workout. Usually after I have started the Generator, it only takes a couple of minutes and it is producing the required output to fire-up both heaters and the TV. The other day, a strange occurrence, it took at least 20 minutes or more to get the required power. During this 20 minute period, the small red light on the portable heater came on but it didn't produce any heat. I forgot to bring my volt-meter, so I don't know what it was initially giving out. I checked for any tripped breakers both inside and out on the Gen. itself. There were none. Then after about 20 minutes, everything was working like it should. Has anyone had an experience such as this?? The outside temp. was around 29 degrees F. It is still under warranty, but I am not sure if this is normal or if there could be something wrong??

Should not take 20 minutes to produce power, most gensets will say run for min 2 minutes before applying load. Sounds like a trip to the dealer will be needed since you are not getting any output

I'd try an inductive load soon after startup.
Drill, saw, anything with a decent sized motor.
Maybe the resistive load alone isn't exciting the stator.

Just a guess.

I have noticed some times my transfer switch does not switch fully and I have to stomp my foot to help it.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will give it a try. As you know, you can hear a click sound when it starts loading. And I guess I forgot to notice if the click sounded after around 2 minutes after I started it the time I had the issue of no load until 20 minutes after.
