SL 222: Changing anode rod in Dometic water heater

Has anyone changed the anode rod in their water heater. If I’m not mistaken, you have to pull the whole unit out to get to it. How much work and time is involved? Mine is a 6 gal. Domestic.

DOMETIC normally doesn't use one since the tank is aluminum.

If your water heater has an anode it is part of the drain plug. If not attached there you don't have one.

That is a relief. I thought that at one time I saw a video of them taking the whole water heater out but it may have been a different model. I just have the plastic drain plug in the front of mine.

That would normally be where one goes, but they're usually only needed in Suburban brand water heaters. They have a steel tank. A previous Fleetwood trailer had that kind of heater, and really ate up anode rods.

I did put an anode in our Atwood when we first bought this trailer, and when I took it out at the end of the season it looked brand new. I never put it back in.

Same here. No anode, just a plastic plug that requires an 1-1/4 socket to remove if I remember correctly.
