Tow Mirrors
I have a 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500 w/Jayco Octane 161. I tried the cheap add on mirrors and wasn't too impressed. Has anyone used the telescopic style whole mirror replacements? Like these https://www.1aauto.com/chevy-gmc-mir...1093511&y=2017

I installed that style on my Canyon just keep forgetting to pull them out, the slide on ones don’t go out far enough to really work good and add ons with the straps will suddenly fly off in a wind gust, if you’re lucky it will miss the car beside you.

Yes. I have a pair of those CIPA style. They don’t seem to be big enough or stick out far enough.

We have a set of Milenco Grand Aero 3 tow mirrors. They now have a set that extends further out than ours. Here's a look at those.

Check out Boost Auto Parts. They seem to have the best quality for the cost on the GM replica mirrors. They also sell the wiring harnesses you need if you go with the newer body style mirrors. Unfortunately in the 14+ Silverado 1500, the door wiring harness between the standard and tow mirrors are different.

I just installed the Boost Auto tow mirrors on my 17 Sierra 1500 yesterday. So far I am very happy with them. Installation was pretty straightforward. Haven’t had a chance to tow with them yet but they are significantly larger than the stock mirrors.

I like the look of the Milenco, they just don't look like they'd stay on very well. Nothing bracing them horizontally. Where do you get them? Do you have to order them from the UK?

You can get them on Amazon, or from an RV dealer that sells the brand.
They do stay on with no problem. The clamping system's very solid, and adjustable on both axis's. We've never had one loosen up, once tightened securely to the mirror. Vibration is minimal compared to some other styles. We've used them on two Toyota Tundra's, but have yet to use them on our F150 since nothing's open here yet.

I added that style to my Chevy Colorado. Got them from Boost Auto also. They look and work great. Make sure you get the tools to take off door panel. They cost around $10-15. from Amazon. Took about 2-3 hours.

Is there really that big of an advantage with tow mirrors?

At least in NYS, there's a V&T law that states you have to be able to see at least 200' behind your vehicle, towing or not. That may come from the idea that you need to be aware of any emergency vehicles coming up behind you. Since the trailer's wider than the tow vehicle, the standard mirrors won't meet that standard. I wouldn't tow our TT without them.

I have the factory tow mirrors. Ordered them on my 2017 Sierra 1500 from the factory. They are black and chrome. I think they are the same as the mirrors on the 2500 and 3500. Work well. I did have to replace one when it stopped working.

The mirrors that clip on your existing mirrors didn't go far enough out for my liking.
So I ended up with a set of these universal ones and use them both on our Dodge Durango and 1500 Pickup. They clip on the window opening and bottom of the door and you can adjust them way out past most other mirrors.
