Truck for 222

Hello group, newbee here on the beginning of my toy hauler journey. I really like the Octane 222 layout and it would work well to store and transport my ultra lite PPC aircraft. Plane weight fully fueled is 300 lbs.
question is: I have a 2014 chev Silverado 1500 with 4.3 V6
Most trips are local within 150 miles, no mountain travel in MN. How will my truck handle this trailer? By the numbers it looks fine but I keep getting mixed messages. I can tell you this truck is much better pulling a trailer than my old 2004 Silverado 1500 with 5.3 engine. I think the new 4.3 with the 6 speed trany makes the difference. Truck is rated for max trailer weight of 7100 lbs. GCVW 12,500 lbs. Looking forward to hearing about others experiance.
Thanks, Steve

Im no expert but you also have to account people in the truck what the truck is loaded with and also everything in the trailer, seems to me youll be at the limit

Not sure which truck you have but those numbers are for a single cab 2 wheel drive and it also matters what axel ratio you have, also just seen single cab 2wd with 3.23 axel is rated for 5900lbs

Truck is a double cab 4x4.
Book list max trailer weight at 7100 lbs. The 222 I looked at weight around 5400 lbs. I was figuring 1000 lbs for gear and plane. Truck weight is also 5400 lbs with full gas and me in the seat. Mainly wondering what others are pulling their 222's with?

You got to watch what they say, they always give tow rating of a single cab, your truck is rated for max weight of 6600lbs looks like it only comes with one gear ratio, just my 2 cents

After more consideration it seems like the 161 would be a better fit with my truck. Opinions?

Im from mn as well. Welcome! We are very close! I have a 2015 2wd 4dr for work. It too has the 4.3. I pull a small roller and other things from time to time for work. The roller and trailer weighs all of 6k pounds plus all my other misc stuff i have in the box. I know my truck and that roller weigh more than that tt. You will be fine.

Ps go to hilltop in fridley and ask for chuck if it isnt to late. He will take care of you!

I'm pulling my 222 with an F150 Ecoboost. 11,000 max tow package.

Camper is at 7600 lbs loaded. It pulls well for my needs.

161 is much better suited cor your truck, but i know its smaller, i dont know how set you are on a toy hauler, jayco also makes a pop-up with a utility bed in front i think its something like 64"wide and 84" long

I just got my 222 a couple months ago. I pull it with my F150. I had it loaded with a zero turn mower and went 180 miles and back in the ozark mountains. Did great. I recommend a weight distribution hitch. We love our new 222.
