Wanted! Fellow Mudders!

We are looking for fellow mudders out there. Who likes to get out and get muddy?

We just ordered a Talon so that we can take our two Honda Formans and travel a liitle farther to enjoy more mud locations.

Anyone else out there in search of great mud holes?

Being from Pittsburgh, they have no choice but to go mudding. The amout of rain we've had this year has made simple things like trying to walk outside a mudding adventure.........

In all seriousness, welcome to the forum and congratulations on your new Jayco.

Hey Mud, I don't mud, but there is a big event coming up in Lyons GA in March. Bi-Annual event. They had Boon dock camping available, think they had a couple thousand people there last fall. Sorry don't have the name.

Welcome to JOF and congrats on the Talon. Was a Honda powersport believer for 20 years but they didn’t have an ATV/UTV that excited me until they rolled out the Talon. Spring rain and snow melt makes for a lot of fun on the Jackson County Wisconsin ATV trail system

Welcome!

I'm not so much into mud. Not only because we don't have much of it here, but I hate cleaning it off my gear! I used to LOVE it though. I would brag about the size of the pile of mud left in my driveway after rinsing my Jeep.

These days I'm more into low-intensity trail running. I'm no boulder crusher for sure! I frequently tow a 1994 YJ behind my MH, and have been threatening to take it to an offroad park in my area. DW is NOT on board, but I bet my son would have an absolute blast.

Short-term goal is to set up my 2015 Grand Cherokee for flat-tow (not too difficult, but expensive). Longer term, I'd like to put a small lift and get some more aggressive tires for it. Really, it's a formidable machine off-road for a family wagon, and with a little modification, it could do REALLY well for the trails I'm interested in.

Of course, I'm down in TX, so we're talking about two different worlds too!

Hey Bob, you may like a trip to the Southeast( NC,GA,TN) tristate area, plenty of US Forest service roads in the Blue Ridge, with maps, and free camping if you like boondocking.

We enjoy mudding... well actually, we enjoy off roading in general. We utilize an Argo, which gets us where we want to be and our Octane has been a great companion to get us to the launch point. We definitely cannot go as fast as those with other side by sides or ATV's but we can go further.

Argos are just plain cool. We had an opportunity to drive a 6x6 version a couple of years back. So much fun.

That is a definite possibility. I'm just now beginning to explore a trip to that area next year. My grandmother grew up in N. Georgia, and I think my son would freak out at the NASA center in Huntsville, AL. Certainly no problems with boondocking, especially for a short time while I'm running trails as a "side trip". Maybe my son will be old enough to really appreciate how fun those Forrest Service trails can be!

Wow I’m surprised you can haul that monstrosity in a 260 Octane. It must weigh over a ton.

Ha. We have the Mud Finder too!!

Matter of fact, it was one of our biggest reasons for buying a Talon. It's awesome for a free mobile app.

We want to travel and do some rides all over the US. We want to go out West and down to Texas, etc. We wanted to be able to stay longer so we wanted a bigger trailer.

It has almost a thousand places to ride and now they have the events list too. We have heard of these events but always find out about them afterwards.

I am afraid of what we will be doing once they go global. They said late summer they will start listing places all around the world.

Can you ship your Jayco overseas? Anyone done this before?

Actually, its quite easy. The Octane 260 Cargo capacity is around 3700lbs. The Argo is not the monstrosity you think it is weighing only around 1100 pounds, it is lighter than many side by sides.

I am researching to get rid of my dolly and tow flat. I have it narrowed down to a used 2015 or newer Jeep Cherokee TrailHawk.

I have read that 2018 and older Cherokee's suffer from "the death wobble",(not the 2019), when flat towing because of the electronic assist steering. Correct me if I am wrong but Jeep or 3rd party has addressed this with a wiring kit/device to stop this. However, I am also finding this part is no where to be found.

Any input on this veh would be appreciated.

I've got an older sidexside now did quite a bit of mudding when I first got it. I the past I've had dirt bikes, 3-wheelers, a rail buggy, and now the side by side. Buried my truck a few times also, all in fun! I've never been close to an Argo but sure would like to check one out. Got some pics I'll have to look up. If you make it to Missouri check out Soggy Bottom Camp, it's been a few years since I've been there but we had a great time. That's my grandson several years ago at Soggy Bottoms, mud is good!
