12v power

We have been parked for a couple of days, attached to shore power,. Went out for a couple of hours last night and when we got back our living area ceiling lights were only going at half brightness. Same in the kitchen, hall, bathroom and bedroom. All lights in the slides and under cabinets is fine. Bathroom fan and the dining room fan have no power and the outside light at the front door has no power...
put a multi meter on the batteries, inverter, and the fuse panel... all check out ok. Put the multi meter on a light and it is only pulling 8 volt. The same lights in the slide outs pull 12 volts and are running properly.
All accent lighting works fine, all plugs working fine.
I am at a loss of what to do now, contact Jayco I suppose... no Jayco dealer where I am.
It is a 2020 Jayco precept 34G...

It almost sounds like there’s a dimmer that’s been turned down. Are all the lights that are dim reading the same voltage? I believe I would try a couple things. I would unplug the coach from the electrical panel and unhook the house battery(ies). Let the coach sit for about 15-20 min. The hook the battery(ies) back up. Check the coach lights before plugging back in, then again after plugging back in.

Been working on this for a couple days now. There isn’t a dimmer switch, there are 5 separate light switches and 2 fan switches all with the same problem.
Still under warranty as it is a 2020 and only 2-3 weeks old. But I will try disconnecting the coach batteries and disconnecting from shore power, see if it will do a reset??
I have determined when pulling fuses to test them that when I pull any fuse a red light goes on beside it with the exception only the overhead lights, when I pull that fuse no light goes on.

The red light not coming on when the fuse is pulled on the panel sounds like it could be a couple things. It could be a bad ground for that segment or it could be a bad circuit in the panel.

I would see if I could determine which ground may be for tha same circuit and make sure its a good connection. Depending on how in-depth you want to get with this, you could move that circuit to a different location on the panel to see if that helps. I know in my panel, I have a couple open spots.

Man, please don't make it worse or void any warranty. Might want to call Jayco and travel to nearest dealer. Sucks but better than having cascading electrical problems on a brand new RV.

Check the frame of the coach to the negative side of the batteries with the - cable disconnected. You could have voltage leaking to ground.
Also, there is no such thing as a "reset" as described.

It almost sounds like a bad or loose ground connection.

Don't know how they wired your rig, but under mine, there are 3 or 4 groupings of ground wires attached at different places on the frame. It could be that one of these bundles that ground those circuits isn't making a good connection.

You'd have to slide under the rig and search them out to see if that's a possibility.

I had a similar issue on my Seneca last year. The ground broke off the frame and was back feeding into the chassis wiring. Found and replaced the ground connection below the rear cap on the frame. While your unit is different. I believe they run the wiring the same way. All the wires to the roof run up the rear cap. That is the most likely place for your ground bus bars. Look for a bunch of white wires bound together in a clamp.

A quick check if you are so inclined would be to pull a light down and run a temporary ground wire to your chassis. If the lights come on then it is the ground if not you have to start somewhere else.

Found the culprit, a ground block, right near the trailer hitch whoever installed it missed the hole and barely caught the edge of the block, must have vibrated off. Reconnected and all is fine.

I hope Dave's not upset when he sees it's out of stock!

I have experienced problems with the factory wiring, several of the wing nuts used to join wires at the panel and switches were not tight. Start at the inverter and check all connections.

Or they all share a bad, common GROUND; start at FUSE PANEL and check all screws & grounds for something loose?
