Mine's always worked great (I think?) I think it downshifts a little too aggressively when helping slow the trailer resulting in RPM's I'm uncomfortable with but that's all I've noticed.
What was the problem that they issued a fix for?

I believe the EcoBoost V6 down-shifting points are different than the V8 points. Have to admit it does the job of downshifting, but the V8's have the edge over them on the downshifting.. Did great in the Rockies a few years ago.
Never had an issue with the trans shifting..... so far.
BuddyRay, I will honk as we go around Atlanta as we will be heading to the Clearwater area (home base), from here in Hiawassee GA (summer seasonal spot)!!!
Hope to beat that tropical storm that is in the Atlantic, may not be a problem....
Don

I agree with the only issue being harsh downshifts. Other then that I love my F150!

They just reprogram the computer. At the dealer tell your tow haul is not working.

This is a Jayco Class A forum. Why are people chiming in on Ecoboost or V-8's when the majority of Jayco Class A's are built on the Ford F-53 chassis with the V-10? If the content of your post has no relevance to the OP's question please don't offer comment.
I own a Jayco Precept 2016 built on the F-53 chassis with the 6 speed transmission and have had no problems with shifting in any mode whatsoever.

Yes, really!
It's like talking about Chevy 350's with 202 camel hump heads and someone chimes in with comment about valve lift duration on a Mopar 440 Hemi heads. WTF.

Tow haul Mode problem
There is a Ford Technical Service Bulletin that addresses this problem. it is "TSB 16-0106" for 2016-2017 F53/F59 chassis made before June 20th 2016. I printed the TSB and brought it to the dealers attention. They promptly fixed it.
I am so happy that it now downshifts while descending mountain grades considering that I tow a 4,100 vehicle. It even will downshift while slowing down to a stop. Really saves the brakes. The shift points going uphill are greatly improved.
If your chassis is a 2016/2017 built before June 20th of 2016 and the tow-haul mode is not working, just search online for the TSB-16-0106. You should find it as a pdf file. Show it to your Ford heavy duty Truck dealer.
I will try to attached it on this post.
