2016 Precept Engineering Changes - Improvements

Morning all, we just took delivery of our new 2016 Jayco Precept 29UR - definitely a pretty coach. We also have a friend who owned at 2014 Jayco Precept 29UM and the differences between the 2016 and the 2015/2014 Precepts is AMAZING. Looks like Jayco listened to its customers and fixed all the poor engineering in the earlier precepts.

Here is a brief list of the changes to the 2016 Precept.

Main slide out
* No more power gear, no more 3 independent motors synch'd electronically - this is a very big improvement
* Two motors linked together and attached to two large slide mechanisms – gone are the plastic rollers
* Large rectangle – instead of the large step up near the rear of the coach – improves stability/rigidity of slide
* Angle bracket attached behind the interior trim so that when the slide extends the metal brackets act as a physical stop, in the 2014 the wood trim was the stop and frequently bent/flexed
* All new rubber seals /gaskets – gone are the simple, small, 1 flap design gaskets

Rear Slide
* All new rubber seals /gaskets – gone are the simple, small, 1 flap design gaskets
* Schwintek slide mechanism

Interior
* U-dinette with table that can be up while the coach is in motion/slides in
* Extra seat belt
* Walk around rear bed (gone is the large rear step up to the bed)
* Under bed storage
* Solid surface cover for stove
* MCD shades front windshield (replaces draw curtain)

Electronics
* All TVs run off the inverter
* Blu ray/DVD player
* HDMI switch
* Jack King HDTV antenna – no raising antenna
* Pop-up main TV

Structural / Mechanical
* Thicker side walls – changed from 1 1/2” to 2” – stiffer, more insulation
* Larger windows – kitchen, door, bunk
* Added window to bathroom
* Cold air return in bathroom instead of in kitchen
* Frame-less windows passenger/driver side – less wind noise/squeaks
* New passenger side awning – new motor
* LED lights now on the far end of the awning vs. against the coach
* Key-less entry door (has a rather small deadbolt and no secondary lock/deadbolt)
* Towing – combined 4 and 7 pin connector
* Macerator

Kitchen
* One large pantry slide – converted into a smaller slide, and fixed set of shelves

2016 F53 chassis
* 6 speed transmissions, much smoother
* Windshield wiper fluid container moved to where you can actually reach/fill

Fingers crossed we have better luck with our Precept than our friend who owned the 2014 Precept.
