2017 Precept 31UL Armrests

We've had our new 31UL for a couple months now and love it (upgraded from 2008 Melbourne 26A). My wife's and my only real complaint is that the armrests on both captains chairs are very high. They don't allow our elbows/forearms to rest comfortably on them. I'm sure there's nothing technically wrong and that's just the way they are designed but wondered if this bothers anyone else.

We had the same issue on our unit. I contacted Lippert tech support and got their recommended soluttion. In short the solution is to raise the arm rest then "slam" it down to "form" the stops. I didn't like that idea much either but I did get the arm rests to a more comfortable position. My suggestion is to contact Lipperttech support so you have a paper trail of their suggestion

Thanks Gma-n-Gpa. It definitely sounds like a radical solution. I think I'll take your advice and contact them prior to trying it. In the meantime I am interested in a little more detail. For example, how hard did you have to slam each one and did you just do it with your hand? Also, are there like preset places each one will go when you slam them down so they'll be equal or is that "hit and miss"?

Here is the "meat" of my exchange with Lippert

Basically I raised the arm rest then "slammed" it down -check and redo. I am not aware of the procedure to reverse any "over adjustment" I strongly suggest contacting Lippert - just in case I had to exert a fair amount of pressure to see any change. So starting with light pressure and gradually increasing was my process. I am not aware of any preset points Also this procedure will not adjust the vertical positioning only the stopping point of rotation. On a side note , have you noticed any noise from the cab over bunk rails? I had to adjust clearance to get them quiet

I had the same problem with the drivers seat. My dealer replaced the seat with a new one. The problem is someone at the seat factory installed the arm rests in upper holes and not lower holes.

Thanks for the last 2 replies. In regards to the first reply/solution I realize our problems were different. The rotation is not my problem. My problem is that the armrests themselves are too high. Vicr, it sounds like you had the same problem I have. Vicr, did you get this fixed strictly through your dealer or did you have to go to Jayco and then have them authorize the dealer to do it?

I have an awesome dealer, Blade RV in Mount Vernon, WA. Carl, the service manager measured the distance off the seat of both chairs called Jayco and a few weeks later my new chair was there.

Just to make sure I'm not imagining the problem can you give me an idea of the measurement from the seat to the top of the armrest both on your original seat and the replacement? Thanks.

The armrests on the seats are between 7-8".
The old drivers seat was between 9-10".
