2019 Jayco Alante 29S awning just collapsed!

I have a brand new 2019 Alante 29S and we are camping. Awning is out and it started to rain. Nothing crazy... just a typical summer shower. 10 minutes in and the awning collapses as the arm near the front of the coach snapped! Anybody had this happen? I’ve had it a month... never expected this!

did your awning fill up with water. have to adjust it so water will not pool up. the arms should be adjustable.

There is just a button to extend it and retract it. Wasn’t that much rain... maybe 10 minutes.

on mine the arms have adjustment holes. you set it up so one side is lower than the other. then the water runs off and doesnt pool.

one of the first things I did after the acquisition was to adjust the awning which was almost parralel to the roof, I gave it a slope for more privacy had a slope on one side to eliminate the water . we lived about 120 days in the MH for a year and we had no problem with the awning.

On my 2016 one arm will lower if a large quantity of rain is pooled up due to the shocks just holding up each side they can compress. I've seen it work before. I agree tipping the awning is a good idea, but with no wind involved the awning should not have collapsed.

If water pools, it can/will collapse, wind or no wind.
