2021 Ford F53 V8 Gas Spark Plug Wire Replacement

2021 Jayco Class A with Ford V8 Motor
Attached is the Ford TSB regarding a Engine cooling problem and a defective Spark Plugs wire problem.
I have a OBD Reader and 4 new spark plug wires.
Question #1:
How are the cylinders numbered?
Example: OBD-II Code P0302 is defined as a Misfire Detected in #2 Cylinder
So standing in front of the coach is #2 Cylinder passenger side second one down the line?
Question #2:
How do you change the plug wires? Can you do it from the wheel well or do you have to remove the Engine Cover (i.e. Dog house) inside the coach?
Question #3:
How do you remove the Engine Cover (i.e. Dog house) inside the coach? Is there pictures or a video?
Thanks for listening

Interesting. I had the misfire code this past Friday and am still waiting for a tow. The MH is 45 mins away in a gravel parking lot or I'd drive down and look to see if the baffle could be the culprit. It's under warranty so I'm gonna give Jayco/Ford the chance to correct the problem before I attempt it myself. Good luck and thanks for sharing.

Here is another thread on this subject. I with help from another poster, I changed mine myself, all 8. Fairly easy to do. If your Ford Commercial Truck service center is close, you might be able to drive it there.

A better reference is Passenger Side 1-4; Driver side 5-8
Thanks

Good information. Thanks for sharing. Mine has been towed. I'm more than capable and have a great professional mechanic that I work with however Roadside assistance suggested that warranty required it to go to the shop which I'm okay with that. Tow truck driver said he found a leak at the rear diff. when pulling the rear drive line. I've owned numerous pull behind campers but this is the first class A. I've heard the horror stories of new motor home issues and thought people were just full of drama but I'm finding out it's just a chronic quality issue. Only 2,800 miles. 200 of those are mine and nothing but issues. Two payments in and not one trip made successfully. Keeping a positive attitude and looking forward to getting it back and rolling out again. There are fish to catch and hunts to scout for.

RH is always passenger side. LH is always driver.

Except when someone that doesn't know that standard says it backwards. (I get your point and agree, but nothing wrong with clarifying as Driver and Passenger either).

Trust me..I know. I work at a dealer...I've heard and seen it all. So I'm usually talking with other techs and they know LH & RH. But I get what you're saying. The RH drivers side and the LH passenger side.

Sorry, but this title cracked me up. It would be an amazing trick to replace a diesel spark plug wire

Guess I'm joining the club. Our Alante 29 S worked great a week ago. At 5000 Mi we had the oil changed and then a great weekend trip to Eastern Washington. Went fire it up today and was running very rough. Soon it threw codes and the flashing wrench. Sure enough, put the code reader on and #3 and #8 are misfiring (P0300, P0303, and P0308). Called the 6 closest dealers, unfortunately, no one will touch a Class A around here. Closest dealer that will is 100 Mi. away and booked out to October. So I went to Parts to get a couple wires. After arguing with him that the 7.3 does in fact take spark plug wires and that it's gas and not diesel. I have a couple coming up at $30 a pop. Hopefully they will be the right ones.

I have an Alante 31v and at 7980 miles coded a misfire on #3. Fortunately the dealer in Jacksonville, Fl was able to get a complete set in 2 days, then another week waiting for an open bay and we were done.

I feel like i was partly successful because I communicated with Ford Corporate Motorhome Division Customer Service. They were proactive and excellent at keeping on top of the issue.

Good luck and safe travels.

This seems to be specific to Class A and to F series truck, but there is no mention of E-450 being effected. Has anyone had this problem on a Class C?

I checked the wires on my 2020 Year E-450 and they are part number LC3E-12286-LB, which from what I understand is the part that is failing on Class A and trucks.

There is discussion of part numbers here-

LC3Z-12286-C is the Ford part number for the new wires. List $14.22 ea.

BTW...it's the identical number that the vehicle had on it from the factory. Not redesigned.

Where do you get Ford parts? My dealer wants $28 for a single spark plug wire.

Is this place legitimate? Any experience ordering from them?

They are "menu" pricing them to you. True list (msrp) is $14.22 + tax.

My 2021 Alante with 2500 miles is at the FORD dealer for same issue. They just called and said there is a TSB now and covering to replace all of the coils at once. Call you FORD dealer and see if you can get yours all replaced for free.

I had mine go bad too, luckily I was on my way to the Ford dealer To have the rear end recall fixed. Limped in, for a couple miles. Took 3 weeks to get parts. All has been well since.
Think it is just a Ford 2020 7.3, F53 issue
