4000 onan generator

2021 Alante 27A. My ONAN 4000 Generator won't start from the inside of the coach, but I can start it at the generator. However, it seems to run at a high RPM. Any suggestions why this is happening?

Does it do anything trying from inside?
The 4000 runs kind of high rpms normally.

I ran it today. It finally started from inside. I need to exercise it every couple of weeks.

You're supposed to run it for 60 min with load once a month

My 2021 alante 27a has had slight issues with starting from inside since we bought it. It allways starts after the 4th or 5th try tho. Mine is parked in driveway in winter and i run it for an hour a week, hasnt helped but still starts after a few cranks.

Are you holding the stop switch for 10 seconds before trying to start? That is used to prime the fuel. I always prime for 10 seconds, start for 5 seconds, prime for 10, etc... usually ont he second cycle it starts.

Oddly enough - I thought I had the same issue. Seems like it would be hard to start from the inside but when I used the outside switch, it would fire up.

But I suspect that what was happening was more, I was warming it up/priming it during my inside attempts. Now, for me, it's a Prime for 10 seconds, crank for 8, from the inside. It'll catch on the first or second try if it's warm outside; on the 3rd or 4th if it's very cold.
