A/C Question

We are currently in New Mexican in our Alante 26X. It’s very hot(100). Seems like none of the desert campgrounds have any shade. My AC is working but not the way I want it to. My question is, does turning down the thermostat to the lowest setting reduce the output temperature or does the AC just run longer?

It just runs longer. If you only have one a/c and are in full sun, it will be very hard to cool the coach during the day.

We just hit a couple of places like that. Ours cranked out great cold air, getting it down to the temp set on the thermo, then shutting off. But it didn’t take long for the trailer to warm up again and the AC kick back on. A constant cycle. They just aren’t insulated that well, if at all.

When it is really hot out, I clean my cold air return air filter every few days.

Once a year (typically), I pull the outside cover and clean the coils. A clean AC works nicely.

This won't help immediately, but I use RV air flow for both of my ac units and noticed an improvement in overall output and it cools my rig faster (I have a vision 29f). Seems a bit pricey for the materials, but there is a (somewhat) noticable improvement. I camp in the south all summer long so any improvement is worth it to me. There are several more scientific reviews out there for reference.

Also many reviews and 1st hand experiences on this Forum, all you need to do is search.

Installing the RV Airflow was by far the best mod I have made to my trailer. A few weeks ago we were in Tucson where it was in the high 90's outside; maintained 74 inside all day long with no shade. Plus, it cools the interior much faster and the AC doesn't run as long. Save me from adding a second AC.
