Car towing

Anyone w a 31 precept hauling a vehicle?
My precept is gas w a v-10 engine
If anyone is towing, do you recommend it and if so, what type of vehicle would you recommend, also any suggestions on the type of hitch.

I tow a JEEP Wrangler (3500 lbs.) with my 35UN Precept. I have same power train as you do and it will handle a lighter toad just fine. Remember, you have a 5000 lb. limit on the coach hitch. If you are in reasonably flat country you will not notice much change in fuel mileage. In fact, you won't notice the toad!! In long hills you will work a little more but your Precept can handle it.

I selected Roadmaster base plates and tow bar with a Blue Ox Patriot brake system. I am very happy with all this equipment. Should you elect to also tow a JEEP, I can offer wiring short-cuts to save time, labor and money.

I tow a Ford Fusion on a Tow Dolly behind my Precept 35UN. I don't notice it at all, in fact every now and then I turn on the rear camera just to make sure it's all still there! I have towed through some fairly steep grades and the Precept did just fine, Actually I was very impressed with the Tow/Hall mode, the cruise control worked great, and when Cruise not on, tapping the brake engaged the transmission to do all the braking going down hill, kept a steady pace. Worked like a charm!

We flat tow a 2014 Honda CRV. Great tow vehicle. But 2014 was the last year the CRV can be flat towed. In 2015 Honda installed the Accord transmission in the CRV and it can no longer be flat towed.

We have flat towed a 2014 Jeep Wrangler Automatic hardtop for the past couple of years with our Greyhawk with no problems. Use a Blue Ox Tow Bar. Easy, quick setup and mostly don't know it is behind us (we watched it on the camera occasionally just to be sure all was okay).

This weekend will be our first experience towing it with the new Precept. I expect same experience, but will let you know if something is different.

We used to tow a 2003 Jeep Wrangler behind our 2006 Greyhawk 29GS, until we sold the Jeep and bought a Jeep Liberty. We still tow the Liberty behind the 35s with no problems. As others have said we turn the camera on just to make sure it is still there.
We use the Ready Brake and tow bar setup up for the Demco baseplate for the Liberty. The Ready Brake is a surge brake which eliminates the need for a separate system for braking purposes. We went with it because it was the cheapest setup we could find at the time and having been using it for over 10 years with no problems.

Precept handled the Jeep towing nicely. Started out a little rocky, but then Don remembered to turn on the Tow/Haul mode button and things smoothed out quite a bit. Don did say it took a little more to stop as the Precept is heavier than the Greyhawk.
