Damage to kitchen cabinet

2015 Precept 31UL. Kitchen pantry door over sink kept popping open recently, so I stuck a piece of duct tape across one edge. Left it there for a couple of weeks and when I removed it, carefully I might add, it lifted the paper thin finish. No way to salvage it. Anyone else have this happen, or have suggestions on how to camouflage it? I'm well versed in stains, shoe polish, etc, but this is going to be a challenge.

Can you post a picture of the damaged area?

Had a similar thing happen on our Eagle. DW used three or four different shades of brown and black colored pencils to fill in the area, and it took her a while, but the end result was so good you had to really look for the spot.

Thought I posted this pic with my original question. I've used different sharpies for similar situations, so pencils might be a good alternative.

You could try a Product called Dap wood finish repair kit from Home Depot. I have used it on a few scratches in wood finishes with great results.
