Dash Speakers

We have a 2014 35U Precept. We got it at the end of the summer last year and noticed on our trip that there aren't speakers in the dash, so while driving we had to turn the music way up in the back to hear it. Are we missing something? That seems a bit crazy. It ends up super loud for passengers in the back. Any ideas?

Other speakers

If you have the MCO sun visor look past it and up to the ceiling. My 35S has speakers there but they don't help a lot to overcome Road noise.

Murphy 31 is correct. Check the audio settings in the radio. The balance may set to the rear speakers. Hope this helps.

Murphy. You are 100% accurate.
No dash speakers only those in ceiling.
We had the same problem.
To get any sense of sound from radio in driver
Area we had to crank up volume.
Which made it way too loud
for those sitting in the dinette or couch.

So, we added 2 6x9 speakers above the driver and
Passenger seats attached to cabinets

One of best mods. We have a switch that allows us to get sound
either to just those speakers or to all
(original ceiling and new ones)
Now we can all listen to music at comfortable volumes
plus it
Eliminates most of the engine noise.

Wow. Jayco must have made a change. We have the 2016 31UL and ordered the unit without the drop down bed. The factory installed front speakers are mounted between the overhead cabinets and the windshield. Larger and much better sounding than the ceiling speakers. I thinking about replacing the ceiling speakers. Good luck to you.

we have the 2015 31ul with the drop down bed.

maybe between a newer model and not having the bed changes the
original speaker setup???

p.s. Dave, how has the rain been down in Poway? We are up in fremont
and it has been one large storm after another this year..

Lots of rain. We had 4.5 inches this past Monday. Way above average. The drought is over! Aflac[emoji3]

35S speakers

In my 2016 35S there are 2 black jbl speakers on the ceiling - in front of the motorized window blind - between the blind and windshield.

There are 2 more jbl speakers in the ceiling of the kitchen area.

Haven't played with them enough but believe the Jensen dash unit will separate as front and rear.

I can also play the Seiki tv through these speakers by selecting zone2 aux2 but don't get a lot of sound as the tv earphone outlet is the source.

Since the engine doghouse and driver passenger areas are not well insulated there is a considerable amount of road and engine noise that requires higher than normal sound levels from the Jensen dash unit. There are threads in either the Precept or class a forums about adding insulation, I've forgotten where.

To ArnieSports60,
Adding the speakers over the driver and passenger side in the cabinets would be great! I hate having to crank up the living room speakers when I'm driving. Just wanted to ask how you wired in the new speakers and the switch, and where did you access and route the speaker cables? Thanks for your help!

Unfortunately I don’t know how the wiring was done. I took my MH to a
Local audio shop and they did all the rewiring.

They altered the wiring on the original radio and setup a toggle switch
Underneath that allowed me to have the audio directed towards either
The original ceiling speakers (above booth) or the new 6x9 box speakers
They added below the side cabinets above the driver and passenger
Which is what we used while driving to listen to music .
