I believe there is a 5 amp in- line fuse located right under the steps.
Have you checked that area?

Depending on the year of the MH, this is a common problem when weight is applied to an operating step. Probably the nylon motor gears have jammed or stripped. Replacing the motor unit is simple and normally solves the problem.

Unfortunately, this comes from the voice of experience.

I bought my 31UL from a friend. The steps broke when he had it and he said it was in the gearbox and not the motor. He said the repair was simple and not expensive.

I just replaced the motor on my steps for a similar reason. The replacement is easy, just get you a new motor. Get under there and remove the motor an the steps will move freely, then use a ratchet strap to strap the stairs up and to the frame. Until you get a new motor. I had this happen on a trip and fixed it at a KOA in Nashville in an hour. Just use the jacks to tilt the RV to the drivers side and you have plenty of room. If you have them, use jackstands.

Mine failed on a trip so I bungee corded them in the up position til I got home. I ordered a new motor and gear box online. Not too expensive and not hard to install, just have to crawl under to do the work. In checking the old unit it was the nylon gear that was stripped. So far I have not been able to find the gear only so I could rebuild the old unit.
Be sure to check the part number as there are right hand and left hand units.
