Do you have a laser thermometer? They are very inexpensive now and may help find hot wire or poor connections.

Six months after I purchased my Jayflight 26SLX and camping for several out of state trips, I did a thorough inspection and found electrical wires connected by wire nuts. Several of the wire nuts had fallen off and laying on the floor under the exposed wires! Most were in the kitchen under the sink and one in the area of the inverter. You might check your wiring connections.

I posted the same issue about 3 weeks ago. My burnt ng smell was the ATS, but it was very clear to me after checking it! Someone said not only a loose connection can cause it but if the ends going through the lugs, opposite each other, barely are touching each other the same thing can happen.

Burning Smell

WE had a similar issue this past weekend, turned out to be the tank warmers were on with empty tanks..... I took everything apart also until I realized.

Did you pop the top off the transfer switch?

That was the eventual source of our burning smell. The lug connectors they used to connect the wires inside of the ATS failed, and it produced a lot of heat.

Melted stuff that's not supposed to melt.

I'm not going to dismiss that smell again. I think we 'ducked a bullet'. I also tossed in a dedicated smoke alarm into that rat's nest of wiring under the bed.
Where is the transfer switch
