Extend-a-stay

We are currently at a campground and our propane is running very low. At our location, no one will deliver and we would have to unhook and go into town to fill up. That would be inconvenient. I looked into getting an extend-a-stay and installing it. All of the pictures that appeared in all of the reviews made it look like a pretty straightforward installation. However when I went to my tank, as you can see in the pictures below, it is quite different. Has anyone installed one of these in their motorhome that could share their experience as to how to do it?

You won't have any problems. I have a '16 35S and the install was simple. Your fittings look a little corroded so I would spray with some penetrating oil (WD-40) on the fitting connections before taking the connections apart.

Same here. Step two is to remove that plastic housing (with the warning labels) and get to the regulator.


Step one is to turn off the propane.


Go for it. Use quality wrenches.
I was a bit nervous doing mine, but I jumped in and it was easier than I had thought!

It only takes about 15 minutes to install. Check with soapy water for leaks when you're done.

Thanks to all of you, I installed it this afternoon and is working perfectly. I added a gauge, as useless as it may be, to the portable tank to have an idea of how much gas is in there. We’re very happy campers!

So here’s another question I’d like to ask. If you have one of these, what do you do when you leave? Do you leave the hose connected or do you remove it from the device and cap that port? Thanks.

you can leave connected.... but obviously, you can disconnect if you wish.
