Frig

I have a 2017 Jayco Alante and this will be my first time RV's. The frig as I read it is propane or 120 Volts. Can I travel with the propane on keeping things cold. I really don't want to travel having to run the Genset. What are my options?

Lots of debate on this topic. Some people do, others don't. I have always towed with the fridge off and everything in my cooler, however this last trip I towed with it on propane. It did fine, just depends on what you are comfortable with.

Keep in mind some places specifically forbid it (bridges, tunnels, etc).

I believe there is a poll going on this subject, but can't link it on my mobile device.

I myself use the propane to run the frig. when traveling. Never have had a problem but do need to shut off prior to tunnels and some bridges and when pulling into fuel stations. If our travels are within two hours till hook-up again, we'll get the frig. nice and cold before leaving and then don't need to turn it on.

I am the proponent of freezing water in soda bottles. When propane or 120 is on they refreeze

Enroute no propane is on and the bottles of ice make neither a mess nor let the food warm up.

We have been in New Mexico and Arizona with our little 195 ( its got a small Norcold fridge) since April 22. !00 degrees to freezing is the rule in the desert.

We are going home and will have used two small propane tanks in seven weeks.
