gas generator

Just went to check on my generator in my Precept 35S. it has been in storage since december... all a get is a click, will not turn over. Just had this generator serviced in December. Batteries, loose connection...??? . the motorhome did turn over and start immediatley, but even with the motor running the generator would not start.. any thoughts on what my issues might be?

The generator is started by the house batteries, so they are probably dead. Push the emergency start button while trying to start the geny, it works both ways.

Yes as long as they aren't too far discharged.

Batteries last one to two years here. Extremes in summer temps with air and everything else going full blast cuts the life of even good batteries. I wanted something that was small, had a punch and would turnover a diesel if necessary.

Yesterday I got to the storage and found the vehicle battery was pretty much flat. So, I pulled this little thing out, hooked it up and started the RV. I went to recharge the little jumper when I got home and it was still showing 100% charge. That jump did little to the charge in the jumper. Best $70 I ever spent and it rides in the back of the Jeep.

Also, depending on the batteries and their charge state, you could run the chassis motor for a little while. That should put some surface charge on the house batteries, maybe even enough to kick over the generator.

When I do my storage runs, I always start the chassis motor first thing because I know the house battery (I only have one currently) will have lost some charge and will need the extra "oomph" to get the genny started. And it works most of the time...

Future plans include a more robust battery bank as well as a small solar install to keep said bank charged while in storage.
