Generator stopping

Does anybody have a problem running the generator right after they fuel up? It puts the code on I think it's 53.

Not sure if this will work on your Onan, but I have a couple of generators that don't like to start when they are hot.

If I shut them down by pulling the choke all the way out instead of the normal 'off' switch, they fire right up after refueling, no matter how hot they are.

The only problem we have is on hot days if we get stuck in a traffic jam or stop at a rest area the generator quits. Apparently not enough air passing through to cool the unit. Never quits while we're driving.

I tried only running one air and put the fridge to Lp and it seamed to help I wonder if one of the capacitors is going bad in one of the airs. Last summer I could drive down the interstate with both airs running and no problems.

We had this problem on our trip out west when the temps were 95-106º. We assumed the generator was over heating even while driving. Unfortunately, that meant we could not run the a/c when we really needed it!

Ya that is my thoughts that's when you need it most looks like I will have to stop by Cummings dervish shop when we finish this trip 3500 miles in 19 days. That's not bad for the only problem.

Is the Start/Stop toggle light flashing after it stops? If so, that is telling you an error code.

Did it shut down while driving or when you stopped? If when driving it could be a vapor lock, but doubtful. Ours almost only quits when we stop at a rest area, or pull into a camp ground. Only has quit twice in almost three years while driving. Outside temperature when it stops is always above 85.

While driving and it won't start up until it is completely cooled down and then it runs perfectly.

I've had the same problem with the generator shutting down while driving. Usually after 3 or 4 hours, I don't usually notice because I'm driving, but generally starts backup after getting fuel. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to why it quits; I haven't found any codes,
