Hard wired surge protector

Looking for ideas on where to mount a Hughes hard wired surge protector in my Prestige 36H. Not sure if I want to mount it under the bed where the power supply comes in or cut the cord and mount it in the electrical bay. I've seen foretm's pics of his elec. bay and am thinking about something similar. I've thought about cutting into the power cord and putting a plug/outlet in the bay so I don't have to pull the whole 50 amp cord in/out through the access hole each time, kind of like turning the main cord into an extension cord. Then I would only need to feed a couple feet of cord up through the access hole and plug cord into the outlet in the elec. bay, hope this makes sense.

I did the electric bay just as you talked about.

The nice part about under the bed is that you can install it after the transfer switch and get an idea of how much power is being used when on generator power.

But I definitely like cutting the cord. So much easier to deal with.
