Help Please! Check Engine Light and at Camp Site

Hello Everyone! Unfortunately while on the highway the service engine soon light started flashing and sounds like I am only running on 4 cylinders. Misfiring or something is going on? Only 2500 miles and worried how we are getting this rig back home. Any ideas? Hoping it not the Spark plug coil issue.

Any big shops around your area? Where are you?

We are at Yogi Bear in Luray, VA. Trying to find help on a Saturday is a struggle. Called Jayco roadside assistance and hoping to hear back from someone.
I wonder if its in a "limp" mode and if I drive it like this will it hurt it more?

There is a FORD dealer in town.

Since you rig type doesn’t display on an iPhone I am going to assume it is a Ford chassis.

Don’t waste a single minute of time calling or talking to Jayco. They can and will do nothing for the chassis. Call Ford RV road side assistance.

Still under warranty and Jayco roadside is towing it to local ford dealer who said they will be able to look at it Monday morning. Lucky I only live 1 hour away and have family coming to pick us up. This is the worst issue we have had but this RV has been in shop 2 times now and only has 2000 miles. Heartbreaking...

What year is it? Does it have the new 7.3l engine? If so I bet it has the bad oem coils.

May be time to check local Lemon Law if all three problems are related/engine/chassis/Ford.

I would call Ford Customer service and see if they can intervene to get prompt and complete fix.

Unless you’re certain it’s not running on 8 cyl, I’d run to an autozone or similar and get it scanned. See what code is produced. Or go buy and OBDII Scanner. Could just be an emissions thing.

Never mind my post. I didn’t read close enough and missed the surging/missing part.

UPDATE 10/4 on my 2021 Alante 27A

Ford Dealer called and said it is the bad coil issue and good news is there is a recent TSB to replace ALL coils not just the one or two that went bad. I was prepared to buy all new ones and do it myself but its all covered under warranty thank goodness! Picking it up on Thursday so fingers crossed! THANK YOU ALL for the quick responses. Could of been way worse but definitely scary driving on narrow road up hill with the motor surging and lacking power. AND your whole family is in the RV LOL>..

Safe Travels

Now, that is how it's supposed to work! Something goes wrong, covered under warranty, gets fixed.....

We shouldn't tolerate any other outcome.

A FLASHING SES says DO NOT DRIVE, (often) as you risk $1000-$2000+ damage TO catalytic or engine; you need a CODE READER to point you in right direction; your signature/ post do not even tell us rig/ age/ engine? (From what I know) LIMP is OVERHEAT good for just minutes to get you over to the side of the road, where you can shut down/ cool off, NOT meant to drive you 5-miles down the road? BUT was it in OVERHEAT? If so, yes, may have been LIMP? (Never experienced LIMP myself)
