Installing TPMS booster

Just bought a TPMS for my 2018 Precept 31 UL and looking for some help on installing the booster. I was thinking of putting it in one of the rear outside storage areas, and connecting to the light inside the storage area. Can't figure out how to get the cover off the light without breaking it. Any help on that or another location would be appreciated.

Try twisting the light cover. It should come off revealing the screws that hold the body in place.

Did you try turning it both ways?

Yes, put a lot of pressure, but didn't want to brake it. Maybe I'll try one of the lights in one of the other compartments, and I get one to turn I'll know which way to go.

I'm surprised that you need a booster in a 31' motor home. I needed to install one but my fifth wheel is 42' long and pulling it with a long bed crew cab. I installed mine in my FW battery compartment and hooked it directly to one of the batteries with an on/off switch so I can turn it off while not traveling. What brand is your TPMS?

It's an EEZ TPMS10BMix. I may not need it, but will be attaching a toad in a few months so I went ahead and bought a system with the booster. A picture of the light is attached.....I think

Not the same fixture I was thinking about. Did you try prying the entire fixture off. The entire fixture may just snap on a base.

Even with a toad you may not need it. Even with a toad, your total length will not be close to mine i would suggest trying it without the booster.

I am in the , for me, very slow process of installing the same booster in our 2020 31UL.
Towing our 2015 Ford Edge a couple of the sensors occasionally drop out.
I'm hoping the booster will end that.

Right now I am trying to fish wire in the over the bed cabinet to the reading light for power to the booster.

I had the same problem and the booster made a huge difference. Even though they say the sensor batteries will last 3 years, I replace the annually. Very inexpensive preventive maintenance.

I needed the booster for my Alante 31V with a toad. Otherwise too often signal drop out.
I installed it in the coach battery bay to the wall and hooked up the power to the battery connecting solenoid next to it. That way it is automatically powered when the engine is running. No wiring hassle, no power-off drain, and took only minutes to install.
The signal is totally stable now.

I used this same method - connected to the solenoid in the battery tray area. Easy connection, and not running when in storage.

(Note: the power draw on the repeater is very low, so any source can work, even a fused-protected direct connection to the battery. For good measure, I went to a switched source because it was just as accessible and I felt better about not leaving it 'always on'. In our case, we used the main switched 12v house feed instead of the chassis feed because is was accessible, and typically on when underway.)
