Smile Is the Problem Jayco or the Dealer?

I purchased a 2019 Jayco Precept Prestige 36H brand new two years ago. The dealer was 5 hours away from my home. I picked this dealer just because they had the floor plan I was looking for. I've never dealt with them before nor have I ever owned a Jayco. After my PDI and test drive the dealer asked me if I was "handy" and told me since I live so far away if I have any issues just to detail the problem in a e-mail and send a picture. Since my purchase date I have had many minor issues such as slide out seal damage, missing cabinet door strut, main door strut, keypad door lock replacement, 50 amp power cord plug fraying, recall on the auto generator start and lost coach keys. I even had some minor cosmetic work done on a scuff mark noticed on the PDI. I was told to get it repaired and send him the bill. Each time I detailed the problem and took pictures. I never had to wait longer that two weeks for replacement parts. I know many of the parts had to be ordered from Jayco. This dealer has been phenomenal. So to answer my question I think having a good dealer will resolve lots of problems with warranty issues.....just my point of view.

I agree 100%, that has always been my experience with few exceptions. There can always be a bump due to human error. So if you are loyal to the dealer (in my case about 40 yrs) they will take care of you.

Totally the dealer.

From our Redhawk, we switched to a 2022 Entegra Vision XL 36A on July 31. Still kind of Jayco.
3 days after taking delivery I notified them of an issue we discovered with the entrance door. 3 months later we are still waiting for a replacement entrance door. The dealer needs to see it for themselves that the door will not stay closed. Understandable. We already had our first appointment for the beginning of September. The service manager even pointed out a crack in the door that I had missed. Promising. Their "fix" was removing a plastic receptacle for the deadbolt from the door frame until a new door comes in. HMMMM. The door still won't stay closed. Adjusted it myself. Stays closed most of the time now. At least the deadbolt goes in now. Right? Most of the time :-). 4 weeks later I called Entegra/Jayco customer service for something unrelated. Great service. Was emailed a manual for the vega touch system and even got the contact info for someone at GoPower from them. They looked up the status of the warranty claim for me. Surprise. The process was started by the dealer but never submitted. Notified my rep. He fixed the issue. The door will be ordered. Other parts were ordered and arrived. I picked them up and installed them myself. On the first of November I called customer service for something else unrelated and again had them check on the door. Can you guess? The order was started but not submitted. Notified my dealer again. Now the door is supposed to be shipped out on November 8. I will let them install it and that is most likely the last time they will work on our RV. I will talk to Entegra/Jayco and see if they have someone else (mobile?) in the area. And in case you are wondering, it's not CW. But they are neighbors. lol

Thumbs up

If you can get the parts and your confident enough to repair yourself you are way ahead to actually enjoy camping instead of all the frustration of relying on a dealer. I have learned far more about my rig by understanding how each component works by working on it myself. Forums like this are a huge help. Someone has usually had the problem and figured out the solution before you. YouTube is also your friend!

AFAIK, there is no restriction against posting the name of the dealer on this site. Why don't you let everyone know who it was so they can reward this dealer with their patronage.

Entegra/Jayco customers service is one of the best

The dealer we are dealing with is LaMesa. In this case in Fort Myers Florida.
Entegra/Jayco has been great. Their customer service is by far one of the best I have ever dealt with. The door issue has not prevented us from enjoying the RV. I can fix most of the things myself. And I made this work too after they made it even worse. The door most likely will be the last thing they will touch on this RV. I just do repairs myself or get a mobile tech. After all, I changed tires myself on our Redhawk, and I installed a washer/dryer all in one myself too. Not to mention all the mods I did to the old RV. Other little things I already took care of. This LaMesa location used to have a very good reputation and the buying experience confirmed that. But boy is something going wrong there now. Not to make any excuses for them, but I think they are just overwhelmed with what is happening in the industry in general. They are swamped and it shows.

Larry's trailer sales. Pickneyville,Il. Several warranty issues after the first season. Dealer had me text pics. They submitted to jayco for approval. Made a saturday appointment 3 weeks out. 150 miles each way. In at 10:30, out by 1pm. Never got that kind of service in town at apache village. Worth the drive to me.

We purchased a used 2015 Newmar Dutch Star from La Mesa in Phoenix and they set up an appointment date to fix a couple of issues. The coach was there for 6 weeks and nothing was done. The batteries were almost dead when I pulled the unit from their lot and went elsewhere. I have never returned for anything!

The problem is the builders, dealers, and consumers.

Better yet. Post it here. More people go here looking for information than will come to Jayco's site.

Out of warranty now, but Terrytown responded very well to covered repairs even though I did not purchase from them. Although this dealer high-balled me the for trailer I wanted because he wanted to sell me a similar trailer, and I bought a custom trailer of my choice for a really good price from a direct-factory dealer, Terrytown treated me with the same promptness, work quality, friendliness and curtesy they apparently extend to all their customers.

I have found that also. I email our local dealer for Jayco in Riverside Ca. in regards to a part approximately 6mo. ago no reply. So yes with some .The question is why because any warranty work they get reimbursed from the manufacture.
