Jayco 2019 front AC
My main AC unit will not turn on when I am running my generator
The rear on works fine
Call Jayco, talked to them and they say there is a switch on the actual unit to check and see that it is switched on to generator
Is anyone familiar with this, or do I have some other problems
Haven’t had a chance to check because of bad weather and I will have to go up on the roof
Thanks

What rig? Never heard of such a thing. 30 Amp with power management or 50 Amp?
If your rig is 50 amp have you checked the breakers on the front of the geny? They aren't always tied together like a house breaker so one may have tripped and you are only feeding one side of the breaker panel.

Jayco AC problem
Yes my rig as 50 amp
It a 2019 Precep 29v
There are 2 15 amp switches on the generator
Itself
Did check the breakers at the breaker panel
Flipped them both off and on
Still nothing
That’s when I called jayco and they suggested
That a switch might have to be turned to generator on the roof top unit
Thanks Joe

Did it work before?
The geny breakers should be 30 amp and did you you flip them off and on? As to switch on the a/c... NO SUCH ANIMAL. Only other problem could be a loose connection on the transfer switch.

I've never heard of such a thing... Sounds like you checked the breakers, etc. What size generator? Being 50amp, should be a 5500. I assume no energy management system since 50amp, please confirm? Do you have a single T-stat or multiple? If single, check to make sure there is not a setting in the T-stat assuming its digital.

2019 Jayco Precep AC repaired
First of all I would like to thank everyone for your reply’s and suggestions on what to look for and possibly repair the AC problem. Well after some trouble shooting it turns out that I had no power from the Generator to one side of the switch in the transfer box. I isolated what breaker could be the problem and when I checked it, it was good as was the other the one. Now what? I started trancing the wiring from the generator to the transfer box and about 5 ft from the generator found a junction box. As I started to remove the cover on the box water started to pour out, aprox a cup. After getting the cover off this is what I found
Somehow water has been getting into the box an caused some arching and an electrical fire.
A couple of concerns here are, why didn’t the breaker on the generator trip and with that being said could this have possibly took the whole coach with it. Contacted Jayco and sent the pictures to them and no response. Another fine representation of fine QUALITY work
I would suggest that anyone with a class A unit take a look for that junction box, pull the cover and inspect the wiring.

Good catch and thanks for sharing.
You asked... why didn't the breaker trip.... well here's my guess/thoughts (I'm not an electrician).
My opinion is the red colored hot wire (you have two hot wires from the generator, one red and one black) that melted and burnt away was not securely attached with the wire nut. So when under load, it simply overheated with the increased resistance caused by the lose wire. The breaker didn't trip because there was no direct short, and therefore, didn't draw more than the amp rating of the breaker.
I will check mine today. Another thing I've done is to insure all my connections are secure, e.g., like in the transfer switch, breaker box, etc.
Mark
