Jayco warranty is not tranfrerrable

Hi I’m curious to know how many ppl are aware that unless you purchase a used jayco from a jayco dealer the warranty is not transferable which ultimately costs the seller. Case in point, I purchased a 2021 jayco prestige 36h this past May. The unit was brand new. It had 2000 miles on it and the plastic in the fridge was still on the baskets. The stove, oven and microwave had never been used. Doing my due diligence I discovered that the jayco warranty was not transferrable. This lead to a renegotiation on the agreed selling price by a reduction of 5000.00 Canadian when I bought it. This was a private sale. Is it the same thing in the U.S?

I should have mentioned that the f53 chassis warranty was completely transferrable. It is just the jayco portion of the warranty is not transferrable

It is the same in the US at least regarding travel trailers. We bought in a similar situation. Our camper was 10 months old and had literally been pulled home from the dealer, parked and never used. Couple thought they needed it to live in while they're manufactured home was in delays when after they bought the camper they're manufactured home was delivered within a few days so they never even stayed in the camper one time. Nonetheless even though it was 10 months old we were the second owners and therefore no factory warranty.

Whether from a JAYCO dealer or private seller a warranty cannot be transferred on any used unit. A dealer can sell you a supplemental warranty, but it is not from JAYCO.

This limited warranty applies to the first consumer purchaser of a new RV only. All rights and limitations within this warranty are applicable to the original owner of the RV only. You may contact an independent, authorized dealer for details

Many JOF members should be aware of it as it has been discussed here many times over the years.

I am surprised that the dealer did not reveal that and if they were pushing a separate warranty that should have been a key.

The information avbout the warranty being transferable through a Jayco dealer was From Jayco USA. I purchased mine privately so when I was checking into the warranty I called Jayco and that's who told me about that.

I don't know of any RV brand that has a transferrable factory warranty. I'm shocked the seller took off $5,000 from the purchase price.

That was probably regarding the FORD chassis and that transfer's either way, just like a car. This is directly off of JAYCO's web site.

Can you transfer a Jayco warranty?
Our Jayco 2-year limited warranty/3-year limited structural warranty applies to the first consumer purchaser and is non-transferable. The chassis warranty on a Jayco motorhome is transferable if it has not yet expired.

Like all here, my Jayco Precept does not have a transferable warranty however, a friend recently bought a Winnebago travel van and discovered that they offer a one-time warranty transfer (first to second owner) if there is a balance remaining on the warranty, which was impressive.

I bought a used 2018 Jayco Alante 29S from a Jayco dealer and did not buy an extended warranty in Dec. 2021. Our dealer fixed four small things during the 12 months after the purchase and said “No Charge”. I got a great dealer!
