Find a PDI listing on this forum and take it with you. Check everything off that is applicable to your coach. Don’t let them rush you through the walk down but instead do it at your pace. If there is anything you don’t understand make them explain it again. You only get one shot at this so make it worth your while. Use your phone to video anything you might consider complicated - like how to winterize it or use the water system with the various knob positions.
Do not be afraid of asking for an actual demo instead of settling for an explanation. For example have them show you how to run the slides in and out and how to use the leveling system. Have them show you how to receive OTA TV channels versus cable hookup. Start the generator. Check the batteries to make sure they are fully charged. Have them show you how to use the inverter.
Hopefully you’ve already taken it for a test drive so you know what to expect when you drive it off the lot. I didn’t find it necessary on my coach but others have experienced handling issues and one thing Jayco will pay for up front is a front end alignment. You may have to mention this upfront to the dealer before you leave. Perhaps someone else will chime in who had this done.
Congratulations and welcome to an adventurous new lifestyle. Enjoy your new MH and get out and experience what this great country of ours has to offer. Best of luck.

We have a 29f and wish I would have taken a test drive first. It did have handling problems, when an 18 wheeler past it would blow it off the road if I wasn’t prepared for it. I put on a Roadmaster steering stabilizer and did the cheap handling fix (CHL) on the front end. We like it and enjoy traveling. I have gotten a lot of good information from this forum, there are a lot of great people here and are willing to help. Take your time on the PDI and make sure they explain everything. Take care and enjoy your new MH.

Deburn,

Just wandering about your experience with your 29S. Are you enjoying your coach?

We picked up our 26X in August. We really like it. I switched out the Soundstream Infotainment system because it did not have Apple Carplay, the screen was difficult to see (too dim), and the navigation was so bad it was dangerous.

I also had the suspension beefed up - which I figured into the equation before purchasing it because it seemed like a lot of work to keep it going in the right direction.

The floorplan and size are perfect for us - so it was worth investing in those 2 upgrades.

What has your experience been like?

So far not to bad love the lay out about the only thing I wish is that the side out was about 12 inches bigger. Had it out about five times this year. A few little things that have to be taken care of lights that don’t work and can’t get the cable to work. As for the ride I agree waders a lot what upgrades did you do to fix that?

I'm glad to hear its working out for you, although those little things can be a bit annoying.

I am one of those guys that researches things, and there is a lot out there to look at. I ended up doing quite a few things. All the parts can be installed yourself without too much trouble if you have a safe way of getting under the coach to work, although some bolts take some torque and you need an extra set of hands in places. Each part has a specific purpose that I wanted. Buying the parts and installing was around $3200. Having an RV dealer purchase and install was around $6100 (10 hours work). There are YouTube videos explaining the parts and showing how to install. I chose the following:

Safe T Plus Steering Stabilizer
Front Koni FSD Shocks
Rear Koni FSD Shocks
Supersteer SS101 Front Sway Bar
Supersteer SS102 Rear Sway Bar
Supersteer S400 Rear Trac Bar

Cheers!

That makes sense. It will help keep the steering more centered. I did everything I thought I needed at once. You can just do one thing at a time until you get just what you need. Be great if the steering stabilizer is all your coach needs!

All the best.

We did the CHF to both front and rear suspensions and then had the Safe-T-Plus installed.....in my mind it now handles as good as it is going to get...drives straight and handles great for such a high vehicle.

I spent a couple of weekends trying up loose wire ends and connections.
Seems not a lot of detail taken in this.
Also check inside edges of storage compartments no trim was installed and left sharp edges on all.
Fixed all myself and do enjoy the large living space.
