Does anyone know where in the manual they explain this push button lock on the 2016 Precept 31ul. My professional at the pdi couldnot explain it.

Not certain about the Precepts but the new Senecas use a Bauer keyless entry latch. It is possibly they use the same manufactuer across lines. Here is their website, you can possibly compare what you have and see if they match. Bauer's site has owner's manuals online to give you some help.

I sure wish the Alante had the key-less entry, hate fumbling with keys in the dark.

Interesting, any special reason, or just personal preference? I was thinking of adding them.

Bauer has introduced a feature they call AlSentis HSS that supposedly improves the functionality of the keypad and extends battery life. The older keypads had to be "awakened" by touching them first before code entry and some people's fingers just did not work so well. AlSentis HSS supposedly responds immediately and more reliably.

I don't have one, but a couple of friends swapped their older Bauer keyless pads for the new version and do report they work better, even in the rain. They hope battery life is better too but can't say at this point.

I don't know if poor touch sensitivity soured some users, but I wonder if Jayco would substitute the newer unit under warranty if an owner gripes enough?

If you touched it wrong it would lock and then the code wouldn't work. If you didn't have the key you would be screwed.
