Leaking windows on Precept 31ul

Picked up our new 2016 31ul on Monday. Pretty heavy rain this morning and both driver and passenger window are leaking at the top of the window. Has anyone else had this issue?

My 35UN (same windows) has only sat in light rain but we did drive thru a very heavy storm last summer and no leaks while moving. Been real lucky for leaks - zero so far!!

Precept Leaking Windows

If you are under warranty, return to dealer and when he suggest "raingutter extentions, I would suggest to him where he could put one of those in short order. Leaks need to be repaired properly.

Mohok is absolutely correct on that. Don't let the dealer weasel out on doing what Jayco pays him for.

Your dealer was hoping to save the cost of warranty AND sell you something.

preceptjoe, don't put this off. Rain leaking in can be a real problem for any
RV. Contact Jayco Customer Service Motorized division by phone immediately.

We've been in down pours both sitting in parks and on the road. We've not had leakage.

Sounds like you got a well built one. Most of us had much larger lists!!

Check the breakers in master bedroom and see if power comes back for TV.
Headlights are a running joke on Precept. They can be adjusted but getting a dealer to do it is not easy - call Jayco before going to dealer for this.
The door is adjustable. My dealer replaced hinge and it is perfect now.
The water heater takes some learning to use correctly - reread the instructions.
The slide leaks are serious and will require a lot of "coaching" with your dealer to fix. Stay on him!

Next post will address the auto level system , , , , ,

Here is a quick way to calibrate your auto level system. It is made by Power Gear company and they work pretty well. You must keep ATF fluid full in tank. Use any ATF you can get.

During this procedure you MUST remain still. Any movement of the coach will abort the calibration or cause it to not work correctly after. It is best done with one person watching the level and talking the operator thru next step so no movement occures.

Start with engine running and jacks full up
Power on the system and wait for the wait light to go out
Press the front button 5 times
within 5 seconds, press the rear button 5 times - now the system is in learning mode and all lights should flash
manually run front jacks down until you lift the front of the coach 2 or 3 inches - watch close to be sure you raise it enough but not too much.
Put a level in the floor of your coach running front to back and raise the rear until it is level
Now turn the level side to side and use right and left buttons to level coach
Recheck the front to rear with level again

Once you are satisfied with the coaches' level press Retract 3 times to tell the unit to store this setting. All lights will go out except On and Off
wait 20 seconds for the unit to store the setting and time out. Once the on-off button stops flashing you are finished calibrating. You can power up and do a retract and then try auto level to see if you are happy. The procedure can be repeated as much as necessary.

Hailey, CONGRATULATIONS on picking up your Precept and getting her home. Now the real education begins. mowdoc gave excellent instruction.
You should have received a large bundle of manuals on all the systems in your RV. Your assignment (should you wish to accept) is to read and digest each and every one of those manuals. Then, go to each of your systems and walk through the process. Here are a couple of youtubes on the water heater.

Try to remember, the vast majority of things that don't work properly on an RV are simple fixes. Start simple: loose ground wires, loose connections for electrical.
The more you use your RV the quicker you are going to find those things that are loose. Don't panic, it is the nature of the beast. Be patient.

We also have a 2016 Precept, with a paasenger side water leak. Found the passenger side window would not close completly. The screws that hold the thumb turn window latch are to long and hit the window screen frame before the window latch aligns with then window frame lock channel. This has resulted in wind noise caused by bowing of the window. Our coach is now at the local Jayco dealership for our warranty repair list items. Hopefully my window latch issue also "fixes" m water leak
