Levelers go bump in the night

Some background :
We’re parked on asphalt with the levelers down. There is an incline so or rear jacks are up pretty high but the tires are still touching the ground. It was in the mid seventies when we parked and leveled but last night the temp dropped into the high 30s.

Last night the Leveler jacks went bump and seemed to drop. You could feel the movement. It also had that springey sound. Not once but three different times during the night. It still seems to still be level, the doors stay open to where you leave them.

Anybody know what this is?

Sounds like normal cold temp contraction. Metal expands and contracts with changing temperature, and possibly the hydraulic fluid. Maybe someone more knowledgeable will chime in on that.

I had this on my Alante on our first long trip to the desert. I contacted Powergear and they told me there was still some air in the system causing the fluid to foam as it pressures thru the valve. The fix for me was to park flat and extend the jacks all the way and and let it sit for an hour or so then retract fully. After I did this I noticed mt fluid level was down a bit, so topped it off and haven't had it happen since. It is a bit worrisome when you get awoken in the middle of the night by that.

What hydraulic fluid do you use, to top off stabilizers?

Type A automatic transmission fluid (ATF, Dexron III, etc.,) will work satisfactorily. Mercon V is also recommended as an
alternative fluid for Power Gear hydraulic systems.

If operating in cold temperatures (less than -10°F) the jacks may extend and retract slowly. For cold weather operation, fluid specially-formulated for low temperatures may be desirable. Mobil DTE 11M, Texaco Rando HDZ-15HVI, Kendall Hyden Glacial Bl
u, or any Mil. Spec. H5606 hydraulic fluids are recommended for cold weather operation.
