Load rating for the cargo compartments

Is there an official rating of how many pounds can be loaded into the storage bins (in my case an Alante 31V) ?
They look pretty sturdy but I am sure there is a reasonable limit.
Thanks, JB

If yours are similar to mine (Jayco Alante and Precept are the same platform) they are a molded plastic which are attached to the frame. There is no listed weight rating but I noticed over time a couple of my floor bins were sagging from the weight of some heavier items I was storing. I cleaned out all my bins and lined the bottoms on the inside with 1/2” treated plywood to distribute the weight of any items being stored. I drilled holes and fastened them down with stainless steel bolts and fender washers. It adds a little weight to the coach but not significant and it definitely solved the sag issue.
As far as storage goes you will learn over time how much stuff you can carry safely and how it should be distributed so as to not adversely affect the handling of your rig. Good luck and enjoy the lifestyle.

Thanks...good idea with the plywood bottom.
So I guess 50 to 100 pounds in a compartment should not be a problem then?

I added 3/4" plywood wrapped in rubbery shelf liner so nothing slides around in all my storage compartments.

50 to 100 lbs should not be a problem. Again, be mindful about your CCC. Just because you have space to put stuff doesn’t mean you can fill every nook and cranny. Availability of storage is one of the many reasons for choosing a class A but safety is always number 1. Enjoy.

Great idea I will use. Also, is the square tube w/cap in photo used for your sewer hose storage?

In the meantime I did get a reply from Jayco tech support and they confirmed the load rating is 100 lbs per cargo bin. I hope they did not just make it up on the fly...

This is actually what I am working on for this cargo compartment, a sliding tray that will hold a small CNC router machine. These are 225 lbs drawer slides so probably good enough for a 70 lbs machine.
No worry, I am not going to operate a screaming machine while parked at a campground...

No, that is storage for my 7' folding ladder.
