Locking Gas Cap

Question for everyone out there. I have a 2022 Alante 29s and was wondering if anyone has replaced the current gas cap with a locking gas cap. If so, where did you purchase it and what is the model number? I’ve read several old feeds that stated Ford F53 chassis have an anti-siphon feature. Maybe someone can confirm that as well? Thanks for any suggestions.

I replaced mine with a locking cap ... bought it from advanced auto. Took the original in and compared it when I bought it worked for about a year then I left it on a gas pump and drove off. Placed the original back on that I had stored in the bay area. I have yet to replace it just have not had the time.

I just bought our MH but I haven't went out to buy one, I might not but that can change, I don't know it might be best to leave it along so they don't drill a hole in my gas tank to get the gas.

My understanding is that they gas tank neck has a valve that prevents siphoning so the locking gas cap is not necessary.

From reports I've read thieves are drilling holes. Faster and easier. It's a different story if you're worried about someone vandalizing your unit by pouring sand etc into the tank.

I wanted one just in case some idiot wanted to drop sugar in my gas tank...... I was not that concerned about gas being stolen.

I borrowed my Brother's truck years back and went to refuel it and found a locking gas cap and I didn't have a key. A man on the other side of the pump came over with a pocket screwdriver and removed the cap for me in seconds and told me he could have removed it even faster if he didn't care to protect the gas cap. From what he said, a regular screwdriver placed firmly into the key slot and a quick twist is all that is needed but that will mess up the lock.

In any case, a locking gas cap may be of some value, similar to the old style screen door hook and eye locks that were common for many years. They may keep someone out but not if they really want to get in (or they really want to take the cap off). ~CA

I think if I had a diesel pusher, I'd be a little more concerned. But regardless of what you attempt to use to discourage them, if they want it bad enough..they'll get it.

I might get one if I see that someone is messing with it, I store my MH out on Army Base so I'm not too worrying.
