Lumbar Support Solution

We've had a lot of discussion about the glaring lack of lumbar support on the captains seats in the Precept. Well, for my 66th birthday(July 8th) my daughter and son-in-law gave me a device called "Kiss My Back". It consists of a metal frame with a nylon mesh support. The mesh gives it flexibility which allows it to conform to the shape of your lumbar spine. It has an adjustable strap that fits around the seat to hold it in place. Check it out at KissMyBack.com. My daughter got ours at Bed Bath and Beyond for get this, $4.99!! A real bargain and it solved a HUGE problem for me.

I bought one last week before our trip. First time my Sciatica did not act up in a while, going or returning.
Great product.

I now have a better lumbar support. It is a self inflating lumbar pillow from Thermarest. Very nice and it is adjustable via the inflation nozzle. You can let some air out or blow into it to give more support. Cost is ~$30 on eBay.

I got one and stitched a 1/2” piece of hard foam to it and it works great, and I can finally reach the gas and brake without straining.

The mesh unit kept wearing out so I purchased another item from Bed Bath and Beyond called "Back Joy." Cost about $20.00 but its holds up much better and still relieves the sciatica.

Sounds great. Will need to give it a try, can't not be worth it at that price.

I started with a foam lumbar support that is in the same shape as the Bed and Bath piece but padded. It worked a bit but I was constantly moving it up and down to get relief from an aching back.

Over the summer I moved the drivers seat forward to the next set of holes in the base. This allows me to set more upright and now I can drive for 2 to 3 hours before I used my padded lumbar support. And now I don't need to move it up and down, once inserted I can keep it in the same place.

DW can reach the pedals better and is much happier when she takes over the driving chores while I grab a quick power nap. We both felt from the beginning that the drivers seat was too far away from the steering wheel.
