Missing Lug Nut and Cap

Took my 2018 Jayco Alante 31R on its Maiden Voyage. Noticed on the rear wheel one of the lug nuts and caps is gone.

I think it’s one of the caps that had a dimple in it. I had a small T shaped tool in my owners manual bag that it says it’s for these caps and nuts. These don’t appear to be torqued just screwed on hand tight with the tool.

On each wheel there appear to be two caps with dimples on them and they seems to be directly across from each other or about 180 degree aparts.

Called my dealership and they were really no help.

Trying to determine what these are for and if it’s safe to drive the coach with one missing.

The dealer sent the coach out for an alignment before unpicked it and it appeared they did not right this thing tight enough.

Any help would appreciate it as we are camping about 30 miles from home.

The nuts only hold the chrome liner in place. Wheel lug nuts are behind the liner. They only need be hand tight . You can buy replacement caps on amazon. Just have to know the correct size

The chrome cap is for looks. It just slips n after the lug nut is tightened and torqued.

They are both gone because the lug nut was not properly torqued.

I would replace it and have all the wheels torqued.

I should have said that Chrome cap and nut should be hand tight using the T wrench.

Personally I would remove the remaining dimpled cap and remove the liner before driving.

Looking at your picture, it may be those are just decorative and not meant to hold the rim on.. My comments are directed to fifth wheel and camper lugs. The lug nuts on you rig may be under that chrome cap and those could just be to hold the chrome cap in place. It does not look like a lug nut at all.

Maybe I'll just watch and let someone with an Alante comment!

They are like the smaller tires on my precept. There are real lug nuts that hold the steel wheels on under the cover. Then there is a decorative trim stainless steel piece that covers the ugly wheel. It's held on by the two nuts with dimples. The other lugs on the stainless part are fake caps. So the stainless piece is large and has some weight held on finger tight. If one lug is missing only one is holding the decorative wheel on. Hence my comment remove the part before you drive, then get it fixed.

I use the T wrench but believe me I give it some torque. Yes, I lost a nut also.
