Missing rat trap
OK, I know this sounds ridiculous, but I have a missing rat trap hiding somewhere (with attached rat, I presume) in my Alante 32N. The same trap had caught and killed a rat the previous day.
I have opened up and cleaned everywhere that I can, searched all underneath areas, climbed into the compartment in front of the engine and still haven’t found it or a hole big enough for the trap to allow it out. The smell disappeared after the cleaning but its back again, rotting rat?
Any suggestions?? All help gratefully appreciated.

Do you know anyone that has a beagle? The beagle may be able to pinpoint where the rat is.

Actually any dog will likely go to where the smell is. I know ours sure would and it's not a beagle.

We’ve tried two barn cats and they didn’t show much interest anywhere!

Under or in bedding, pillows and cushions? All vents and voids? It didn't get out so it won't get better. Start taking off paneling that is held on by screws.

Took out all soft goods already, removed all removable panels and examined areas that I can’t open with a camera.

Are your slides extended? Can you inspect underneath them from the outside? Check behind bottom and tops seals from outside.

Have had them out and looked under - haven’t looked behind the seals, will try that tomorrow!

Could it have gotten in from under the dash? Maybe chewed through a fresh air vent hose under there.

Opened up the dash and found evidence (droppings) of their travels but no holes or damage.

OP states it’s still attached to the rat so I’m assuming not

I know it’s not much help now, but I learned this lesson with a rat trap in our stick n brick attic. Sucker ran off with trap into the insulation. Finally found him and put him out of his misery, but I’ve always wired the trap to a joist after that.

Yes Lucky, exactly! These are clever little buggers.
Shortly after we moved into our new house, a rat had buroughed himself between the drywall in the garage and the insulation, I had to remove a 2'X4' piece of drywall to get at him.
A 2 ounce piece of 22lr lead tucked behind his left ear took care of the problem.

Sadly, I used a screwdriver, but I still put a hole through the ceiling

Well, I looked behind the seals and still no sign!
I’ve put steel wool and expanding foam in every hole I can access, I’ve also installed 4 ultrasonic rodent repellers. No signs of any more “invasions.”
Thanks everyone for your suggestions and advice - I guess it will be an unsolved mystery!

If it's in there somewhere it won't go unsolved for long.
Keep us posted, I'm interested to see where it went.

Huron is correct, the smell will lead you right to it.

This is a good reason to never, ever use D-Con rat killer! The rat will go somewhere and die and it will stink!!!
I worked at a forklift dealer and the service manager used D-Con all over the shop. One of the b**tards died under a large rack behind the parts department where we got to smell it everyday. Once we found it (guess who had to dispose of the rat) I told the service manager if he used D-con again, I'd find a place in his office where he would never find it but he would know it was there.
I also said if he bought traps, I would be more than happy to empty them when they did their job.
