I won't even run my daily drivers that low when I have fuel readily available all over the place!! No way would I run anywhere close to that low in my MH!!
I'm looking for fuel at about a half tank. If I get to a quarter, I start to get pretty nervous. If I had 20 calculated miles left, you'd have to scrape me off the ceiling!!
I have this vision of getting a flat with only a quarter tank of fuel left and not being able to run the air conditioning in the coach while I wait for roadside assistance.
Once when we towed a trailer, I actually had to use my gerry cans. I got low on fuel. I kept stopping, but the stations weren't any good, couldn't fit. I finally got low enough in the truck to be uncomfortable, so I stopped and drained my 10 gallons out of the gerry cans into the tank. Finally found a suitable fuel stop down the road a piece and filled the truck and both cans back up. I don't yet carry cans on the MH, but I've considered it many times. I just try to keep the toad fueled up, that way I can take it to get fuel if it comes to that.
Purpose of the thread: I don't really pay much attention to fuel economy, I just fill up when I need to and try to keep no less than half a tank if I can help it. Last time I hand calculated mileage, I was towing a vehicle, and had been running the generator; I think I remember calculating about 7.5 or so?
